motoman Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Skeet pulled it off; sounded like he was throwing some new 6.5-7" swimbait from basstrix of something? - I will say the swimbait I saw him throwing in the coverage this weekend look like a pretty traditional paddle tail soft plastic. I thought most of the basstrix stuff was that silicone kinda rubber?.........but I guess we will wait and see.
Quillback Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 It was hard to tell what swim bait he was using. But I agree, looked like a run of the mill paddle tail.
Quillback Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Ike went in the ditch, only one bass on the last day.
motoman Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Ike went in the ditch, only one bass on the last day. - I was really surprised ole Ike lost that bite on the last day. He was strong out of the gate, but his weights consistently tapered off; stinks for him. That had to be crushing with such a great start. - But, good for skeet.........doesn't seem like I've heard much from him lately. - One comment Byron made at the scales; was how him and skeet and a few other guys all share info and are completely honest about what they're doing with each other during tourneys........I figured that kinda stuff takes place........and skeet confirmed Byron turned him onto the swimbait bite. - But, I recalled when the pros were down at Table Rock; (I'm sure this happens everywhere though) and a few told stories of how locals were chatting with them, and when a local would start sharing info; the pros would have to cut them off mid-conversation and explain how they couldn't take advise from others?(or something to that effect) - Anyone able to clarify that one? - And thanks for posting this thread too Quill! I always enjoy watching the live coverage on-and-off on the weekends of an event; when I have time.........but can never remember when there is an event to watch live coverage online.(doh!)

Skeet said it was a Basstrix 7" swimbait that he was using a 7/0 weighted swimbait hook with. He got the tip from Velvick he was using them and they were hitting the heck out of them. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Sprint21fter Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 The pro's can't take any information from anyone outside of the your fellow tournament competitors once the lake goes off limits. Champ188 1
motoman Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Thanks sprint21; that explains the advice thing I asked about.:-) - And too; I wished I woulda taken a screen shot of skeet throwing and re-rigging the swimbait I saw. Because, I coulda swore he mentioned something about it being a prototype basstrix. And if my memory is correct; it looked nothing like a traditional basstrix paddle tail with that glossy finish........I recalled him throwing a swimbait that looked more like the discontinued bps lazer eye swimbait in the 6"+ size that Steve Kennedy talks about?(but I could be wrong there)
Ham Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Ike struggled on the last day, but Skeet caught them so well Ike could have caught 20 lbs and still lost. Ike was fishing thru the pain too. He had surgery on a leg he injured at the last tourny. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
