Have you been over to the Strawberry? It doesn't get mentioned on here too much.

I've only duck hunted there but I watched an old man wear out the crappie amgonst the tupelo trees.

Of course I floated the Spring river with all the knuckle heads. I didn't know squat about fishing clear water back then.

Lots of places that need to see the Little Rig in action.

Never tried the strawberry yet, I hit south fork and spring river over there when we are at the place in Hardy.. Sounds like fun other than the cottonmouth action Ham.

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Not me. Like most, I have been in crappie mode. I may go next week though if my buddy and I can bag our thunder chickens early before he heads back home. We had an awesome trip last year during the first week of turkey season.

I hit up the current last weekend near van Buren. Caught some smallies on chartuesse rooster tails and on the fly rod with black and olive BH woolies. Caught more goggle eye though...

on a small local creek for exactly 1 hr, 5 smallmouth and 8 goggle eye. No size, no beds, deeper water just off of current.

I attempted to fish mineral fork off F HWY on Wednesday but didn't have to much luck. Caught a couple small largemouth and smallmouth. Spoke with a very nice lady who attended SLU was down on the stream doing an electrolysis for her PHD dissertation which turned out to be the most eventful part of the trip. I gave up fishing to try and help her find her markers she placed last October even after the water was flowing near 20,000 CFS following the storms that rolled through last week.

I've been on a few wading trips and one float trip on the creek I live on. The bite isn't red hot yet but I'm catching some good fish. They aren't in their summer spots yet and it seems like I'm catching them toward the middle of pools out of the current, or at least in slower current. Not in the deep winter holes, but just a little farther down from the riffles than they would normally be

You know, in the year we have been out here we have seen a handful of high water events, but only a couple of "floods". It comes up fast though. They have places they can get out of the current I'm sure.

This evening we walked down and made a few casts. I caught a 4" smallmouth and lost one at my feet that was the biggest I've seen yet. No clue on a size, but it was a big fish. Both hooked out of the current in non traditional places.

I've seen plenty of little fish so I'm sure there's some spawning going on. The Kentucky bass seemed to be thriving this winter, but I think it's because I live on one of the best wintering holes.

You need to come out some time.

Smallieguy, how did you know the Mineral Fork was running 20,000 cfs? I am unaware of a USGS gauge there. Do you know what 20,000 cfs looks like?
