Jason Essary Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Ok. Time to learn the new swing head. Got my order in from swing oil baits. Look awesome. Thinking of going out and only using it to keep myself from switching. Now. Weight and what are your favorite baits to drag with it? dtrs5kprs Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 5/16-7/16. Anything green pumpkin or gp/orange with lots of claws, wiggle, flaps. Creatures and craws. And the menace grub.
willyfish Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I would go 3/8 right now, it's basically a plastic cranckbait. Have fun with your choice of trailers .
eyedabassman Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Are the Jika rig and the swing head almost the same thing? What is the advantage of both?
Quillback Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Strike King Structure Bug and a Megabait Megabug are two of my favorites. 4/0 hook and 1/2 oz head, but if I want to fish deep I go with a 3/4. Sac River Jim 1
Sac River Jim Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 x2 on the Structure Bug and Mega Bug and don't rule out a craw tube and a local Company called CM Lures makes a floating craw that works well too. http://cmlure.weebly.com/ Quillback 1
moguy1973 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Are the Jika rig and the swing head almost the same thing? What is the advantage of both? Jika rig is more like a Texas rig, only the weight hangs below front of the bait instead of riding the line in front of it. Here is a video of the Jika Rig, take note of the underwater action at around the 2:15 mark: The swing head, aka Biffle Hard head, is used more like a crank bait where you put a creature/beaver/craw bait on the hook and cast it out and reel it in. Sac River Jim 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
rps Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Are the Jika rig and the swing head almost the same thing? What is the advantage of both? Both allow the hook and plastic to swing free. If you fish the jika, you can crank it as those who fish the swing head do. And vice versa.
