Nah, $150 is way low Gavin. Anybody with an ounce of salesmanship could get triple that. Those rods may not be too special, but there are several that look to be pristine. Hell, a restaurant would buy them to hang on the wall at double that price. Anybody puts some effort into finding a buyer could do better. Way better. It's just a matter of finding a match.

The boxed Japanese bamboo fly rods were made after World War 2 and are very poor quality and are known to delaminate easily. Fly fishermen consider them good for wall hangers but worthless junk for fishing. They are worth $50 to $75 tops. Any reputable dealer in classic fly rods will tell you the same, so don't just take my word for it, but I have encountered these before and have had discussions with tackle dealers about them, so I know my info is correct. If someone paid hundreds of dollars for one, he got screwed royally.

I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.

Yes you could get more....then there is time. How long does it take you to make extra doing something else? Neat stuff, but mostly decorative items.

Well, say an hour or three researching, taking pictures and creating listings on e-Bay?

It might be worth his while to talk to someone at Bass Pro--they will buy old gear as decoration for new stores. I put an acquaintance in touch with BPS over a gun and rod collection she had. Nothing came of it, but I know that the company was interested.

I think the one with the tag that says 'this is an old rod worth money' sounds promising :D

There are some Winchester Collectors out there that would pay for them.

Put them on Ebay and let them run.

I run across many bamboo rods in antique malls that are way over priced junk. Broken tips, odd guides, bad wraps, sanded cork, or worst of all, sanded down and refinished. All of the edges rounded down, all original marking sanded off, and wrapped with modern threads.
