Dock Owners

I don't know my fishing buddy would cast between the floats (Hard), jig would wham against aluminum pontoon and about 3 seconds later pull out a crappie. Have had a few growly dock folks, but I don't fish LOZ during the crazy summer so maybe owners are a little more laid back then.

The guys with the really nice boats aren't here but about 5 weeks out of the year. They are up in the cities paying for their second home and nice boat(s) so that when they die shortly after retirement the wife has a really cool crib to move her new stud into.

Property is sure cheaper; anything on the lake is a bit pricy. Been looking for a couple years for the right spot to retire(good water, protected, ice free, good price, lower end, etc.) and have not found one that has everything I want. Have seen many beautiful spreads off the water, reasonable. I will say that I trailered over to Shawnee Bend last week and that's another nice ramp....

It is a lot of work, worry. and responsiblility. What your describing is a place back in a cove. You wil find that except for the Ice free. Its hard to find a place that is well maintained. That is the major thing. A lot of people are starting to want evrything on 1 floor when they plan to retire as well. Then there is sewers. They are coming all over the lake hell. or high water. DNR is pressing it.

This one of mine might be on the market if my health contiues to fail I might be forced to sell it. It would not be reasonable however.

OK, I wasn't going to chime in on this but after what I seen last night I'm kinda pissed!!! I'm a dock owner and I have no problem with folks fishing around the dock, heck I even tell them where the beds are. But last night when I got home from work I watched my 85 year old neighbor fishing off her dock as normal. She was catching a few crappie. Now understand, they've lived there for over 30 years and this is her favorite thing in the world for her to do. A bass boat was coming into the cove just as she caught a crappie. By the time I got down to the dock to ask her how the fish were biting the bass boat with three guys in it pulled up right in front of her!!! She could have stepped off her dock and on their boat they were so close. This prevented her from fishing off the side of the dock that she normally does. She wasn't happy about it but she said nothing to them and just moved to fish off the other side. My thoughts: As a common courtesy a fisherman should respect other fisherman and not crowd in on somebody like that. If I'm out in the boat fishing, I don't get within a 100 yards of another boat, it's a big lake. If somebody is fishing off their dock I don't pull up and fish it...there's plenty docks on the lake to fish. Probably the most upsetting part of this whole story was two of the guys in the boat were in their sixties and the other was over 40. They should know better. Sorry for the long post but I just had to vent a little on this one:)

Those are the types of people that give other anglers a bad rap. I'd have just went around and went on to the next docks. There are more docks with brush around them on that lake than a person could fish in a lifetime.

I'd have given her dock a wide swing so as not to disturb her fishing. I do not fish docks that have folks out on them. Plenty more to fish without disturbing someone.

Well the thing here was she was a aged woman. They just disregarded her. They need their a-- kicked. I have never had the experience of having a arrogant fisherman at my dock. Out on the lake I have had a couple.
