Ham Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I believe there's a new regulation in place that does not allow the wind to blow at a bank. Now it may only blow down one. Have thought about a sock, but with all that wind the last few days I might have ended up parasailing with it. The trick is to find places that have a crap ton of fish that SET UP correctly with the existing wind. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members flyrod17 Posted April 30, 2015 Members Posted April 30, 2015 Braid on the spinning reels works way better IMO. That FC would be great as a leader on the end of 10 lb power pro or spider wire. Very little trouble with twist up, long casting, very tough and long lasting with no memory. Best move I have ever made on my spinning rigs. Light braid on spinning reels is awesome. I've been spooling braid with 3 yards or so of Flouro for a long time. Will not go back to straight FC ever again, but not designed for spinning reels. I use straight FC on my casting reels but not my spinning reels. Learned this little trick from fly fishing with FC tippet when nymphing. "I'm Haunted by Water"
5bites Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The abrasion is not a big deal with Invizx. I worry about any line after it has been pulled hard over the roller by a fish running drag. Super lines are just not for me. Yoda had a green lightsaber and Obi Wan had a blue one. Not sure how anyone fishes braid or nano in wind without going bug nuts. You may know but the last comment left me confused slightly. Anyway both lines I mentioned are flourocarbon. The best you can buy but add Toray Superhard to the mix though I e yet to try it. I'm still experimenting with Sunline structure but so far I like it pretty well. I'm also still experimenting with braid/flouro leader on my spinning gear. One more thing since power poles keep getting brought up. I've been crappie fishing a lot the last few weeks and hope to continue this weekend, only at table rock instead of Stockton. There are fillets in my freezer literally because I have a talon on my boat. If I can help it I won't go without one again and hope to add a second one by next spring. Or sell this one and add two twelve footers. It's came in handy every time I've been on every lake I've fished this year including table rock. Now if they'd just make an electronic steer trolling motor that acted just like a cable steer one that would be sweet.

I am definitely the black sheep of the Finesse family because of my line choice. Works fine for me though. Ham 1

I am good with just straight regular old Yozuri Hybrid co-poly on my fairy wand gear and I do alright.

From my experience that is very similar to finding the running play the defense cannot stop. Pretty simple once done . We need a couple more creeks that run east/west, without having to make a 10 mile run through rollers to reach them. Just not that hard up to catch one anymore.

Thanks for clarifying. No doubt if your system works roll with it. I've definitely not settled on anything yet. That's part of the fun of fishing to me is trying new latest greatest products or techniques.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Someone will have to show me why fluoro is bad on spinning reels. Have used it since Carbon Pro hit the market, with few twist/memory/stiffness issues. Mono is far worse. Buy good fluoro (ain't cheap), spool it properly, condition it, and be open to changing it if needed. I don't fish any non-braided line more than three days straight, if it is seeing hard use. And make sure you operate the reel properly. While I was gone, my daughter needed an 8th grade speech project. Got home and found out she did a "how to" on spinning gear. Was tickled to see her flip the bail by hand, and as importantly tug the line tight on the spool. Not enough to flip it by hand, the little tug really eliminates the deadly loop.
