i have seen a big old smallie, it was sitting in the shadow of my boat while I was looking/ fishing out of the other side, lol

when i spun the chair around to grab a diff rod, I saw her, HUGE! she spooked of course

i've had a 10+ lb largemouth grab a 2lb white I had hooked . I was hoping she would swallow it but she spit it out, couldnt quite get it down the gullet. It was the biggest largemouth I've ever seen anywhere on Bull.

the current bass numbers are awesome, keep your fingers crossed, the next 5 years should be dynamite!

by the looks of things ,we have an excellent hatch of bass fry right now

Everything does look bigger under water for sure but, My brother and i dive a lot when its warm and we see tons of bass. i remember one instance that we came up and i said "did you see those two smallmouth" and i was thinking 7 lbs. He said if they weren't 7 they were 8. He has been diving bull for 15 years. I dont see many that i would say could go 8. But 4-6 we see tons of. Bass are really curious of divers they will come right out to see what you are, almost within arms length. Lots of times ill look behind me and you will have a entourage of Largemouth. I havent done much night diving.

Lots of times we will get a rock and ding our tanks, that usually gets some bass to come and see what is making the noise, definitely understand why they put rattles in baits now

Did u dive pre walleye die off and post die off 2011??...,,to compare the numbers of walleyes u see now......before 2011 Bull was an amazing walleye fisherie now it's really tough to scratch out a limit.

i didnt really start until 2012. We spearfish and honeslty if we get 4 between us in a whole weekend i feel like were doing pretty good. I catch more fishing the old fashioned way for them. Lot of people think its easy to go down and shoot them, definitely not the case. We see more that are right around the 18 inch mark, but we leave those alone, cant really measure before you shoot them so we make sure to go for ones that are for sure over 18.

The walleye act way different, they will come in to check you out, but its usually a fly by, they dont stick around very long. and 90% of the time the walleye are in pairs. It would be nice to know how it was before the kill. I heard about it but dont know much about it. Was it a pretty significant kill?

Must have been because the fishing is so much tougher now for a time i thought it was just me but then guys that I know are very good walleye fishermen was struggling like myself.

My father in law recently did a guided trip on bull for walleye, said they caught 36 in 2 days, maybe 12 keeps, personally I wasn't there but saw the pics, doesn't seem their to hard to catch once you dial them in.

I talked with a very nice gentleman that has turned his sole focus to walleye years ago. He is in the Twin Lakes Walleye Club. Fishing is a major passion for him and all of that energy is being spent figuring out walleye. I asked him what a good trip for a good angler trolling for walleye on Bull was and what his best day ever was. He said a good trip is 20 walleye and lots of non walleye coming to the boat. His best trip ever was 76 walleye brought to the boat. 76.

That number was pre fish kill, but the walleye should be coming back strong since it only takes 3-4 years to go from fry to keeper. I guess I will keep catching them on accident and be happy for the ones I get.

I really don't think the numbers are as low as we think, at least I hope not. I do think patterns are changing. How many of us troll open water for walleye. They do eat a lot of shad. Shad roam open water and over the river channel. My scout was down last week and found good fish on the same points I had the banner year a couple of years ago during the high water. Normal pool I did not catch anything to speak of on the same points. Time to improvise, adapt, overcome.

When I fished baaaaassssss, on table rock a long time ago on deep tree points in summer, I found the best fishing for my technique in between 10am-2pm....there was nada on the same locations before and after that time. Mornings they are out chasing shad, they stage in the trees from 10-2. After 2 they wolf packed back out to chase shad. Maybe the eyes are doing the same thing, but the times are different. At least it's a theory of some sorts...
