cheesemaster Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Unbelievable. I was waiting to tie up my boat at the end of the day on the dock at Cape Fair (just floating around letting it clear out some) and almost was ran over from behind. I hear a boat approaching from behind and someone yell - watch it!!! It was the passenger yelling at the driver. He swerved to just miss my boat. Once I got out of the water I hung around for the guys at the ramp and asked him how he could almost run me over. He said and I quote "Sorry - I was texting". At least he said he was "sorry". fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Yeah that texting business is real important. Saw a gal walk right into a light pole in the middle of a parking lot once. She might as well had been stone blind drunk.
cheesemaster Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 My daughter lost a friend of hers driving and texting. Went off the road and hit a tree. Very sad deal.
Champ188 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 People are just ridiculously unconcerned with the presence or welfare of others these days. Glad you weren't hurt. Codywskeeter1521 1
Codywskeeter1521 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Scarey to think about all the boats running around and not knowing if the driver is texting. In your case that almost happened in a "no wake" area. Glad you didn't get hurt. That texting and drivIng/boating is a bad deal. Terrierman and Ham 2
ness Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I lost a nephew to a texting driver. He was heading to his mom's house for his 18th birthday party when a 16 year old, whose parents didn't know she had the car, crossed through the median and hit him head on. Texting and driving is what you always hear about, but doing anything with your phone is just as bad. Flysmallie, Terrierman, Sac River Jim and 2 others 5 John
Champ188 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Sorry, ness. Kids at that age don't have the driving experience/skills to handle any kind of distractions, and no one can drive with their eyes off the road. ness 1
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 You can't teach them better either. Talk until you're blue in the face....in one ear/out the other. They've "got this"! I have a 16 y/o stepson that is the best driver EVER, and if you don't believe it just ask him. I'll give him 4 months before he crashes, and I just hope nobody gets hurt too bad. To him a vehicle is nothing more than something to put a "sub" in. They are out there.

Let's hope the same for your stepson. Pretty tough to tell a 16-year-old boy anything that he doesn't want to hear.
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Yeah I was a little jackass too. The difference is that I was out in the country being stupid instead of ripping around in the crowded cities. Oh....and we didn't have cell phones or Facebook statuses that had to be monitored every 5 minutes.
