whether true or not, i remember when table rock was at the top of the list, and we had lots of fisherman from all over the country come visit. why is that important?? because it adds revenue to the local economy. people such as bill babler benefit from people wanting to come visit the lake to fish. they spend money.

what has been bad also from a fishing aspect is that branson has turned table rock into a pleasure boat lake more so than a fishing lake. even big cedar caters more to pleasure boaters than fishing. sure would be nice to see all the resorts full of fisherman like they used to be.

Well for the Major League Baseball All-Star game has a requirement that a player from every team is on the roster. Looking at that list it seems to me that they put a lake in from every state.

Well maybe you might undrstand now why people up here at LOZ are mostly tight lipped about giving specific information. I know this stuff of talkkng it up about the what, when and where is good for your ego but its no good for your fishing. When you stop to think about how many people read this thing what do you expect.

Bo, some guides may be dependent on tourism advertising, but the top-shelf guys don't need it. They stay busy as beavers on reputation, word-of-mouth and most of all, return business. Babler, Beck, Buster Loving, Pete Wenners are all in that class, along with others.

true to some extent champ, but hardly any of the resorts, at least in this area ever are full of out of state people with fishing boats, but they used to be. table rock still has fishing pressure for sure, but is more from all of the retired people that are now here. take a look at just about any boat ramp and at any day of the week, there are plenty of trailers. one of my retired buddies that live in emarald beach will always be making the comment when going during the work week , "doesn't anybody work anymore"?

i have friends strung around different locations in the country, and some used to come to table rock every year to fish, but they do not any longer, basically, because the fishing here is not anything like it used to be, and especially after the fish kill.

If you don't mind an outsiders perspective I will say this; In the short three days of fishing I had on TR this last week, my home lake is definitely fishing better than TR is right now. My lake happened to make the list at #67 (West Okoboji). It seems we have more and bigger fish per location than TR does. Or perhaps it's just more fish willing to bite per location. I don't know if your numbers are down or your fish are just more educated due to pressure. I know one thing is for certain; we don't have the tournaments on our lake that you do. Sure we have small club tourneys and such but not the majors that you guys have. Hiring a guide is almost an essential for out-of-state weekend fisherman on TR if you want to spend more time fishing than locating. It's big water and finding fish is half the battle.

Grand Lake is a top 15, yet it kicks my butt more often than not, TR generally has a lot more fish, a lot of solid keepers, just harder to get that 5+ lb kicker. JMO

Grand should be in the top 15. It is just full of underwater structure like humps and ridges at mderate depths and I imagine grish piles as well as surface things like docks. LMB love that kind of stuff. It is hard to rank any lake. there are ao many variables to contend with.

I fish lake Ozarks some but table rock often. Lake o has so many nice largemouth but so busy. Table rock is so full of nice big smallmouth and 16 + in Kentuckies that I can't help but target them every time I am out. Numbers of big largemouth 5 lb or larger seems much more difficult to come by here. But the small mouth here are so beautiful and love watching bringing them in through the deep clear water. Hmm

Choice is easy for me tr.

I think that the ease of fishing the lakes comes into play a little too. The average bass fisherman cant just head out and catch a decent limit quite as easily here at Tale Rock doing the same thing as they do at "home" lakes. After May especially.
