DADAKOTA Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 My buddy was at Stockton over the weekend and said that you couldn't keep the drum off of his walleye rigs. Are they getting over populated?
Dutch Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I catch one once in a while but not like on Pommy. That place is loaded with them.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I beat my record. On Saturday I caught 6. Catch at least 1 every trip.
Ham Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Drum have a spawn. That may be going on right now. I would think it foolhardy to think fish populations are out of balance based on the results of a few fishing trips. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
LoweSTX175 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Eat em. They're good. If you can show me a decent recipe I'll give them a try. I remember as a kid one time my father decided to filet and fry him up. To this day I still have a vivid memory of how nasty that thing tasted.
MOPanfisher Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Fileted and fried ain't bad on drum, Cajun seasoning is my favorite. Boiling in crab boil is another, let it cool and make tacos. Fly_Guy 1
BilletHead Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Yep just like Mopanfisher said. Boil in the shrimp/seafood seasoning and dip in cocktail sauce. Another way to use it is make scampi and use drum fillets instead of shrimp. I have used bass and crappie for that too. I had at onetime a bow fishing book that had a recipe where you season and broil it, dip in melted butter and eat (lobster imposter it was called) Wish I knew where this book was now!
