bluebasser86 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 With the other thread about the Rock Star 55, anyone heard anything about this bait? Supposed to be another possible wart replacement/stand in. Haven't seen much in the way of color options available but if they're like their other new cranks then there's going to be a couple decent options.
Quillback Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Interesting, sounds like they are clearly going after the Wiggle Wart. Berkley cranks are usually reasonably priced. bluebasser86 1
Ham Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 It is very interesting how many companies are going after the niche market of the Wiggle Wart. It would seem from all the guys throwing the wart that it is a pretty good bait as is. The Wart is pretty reasonably priced and is often available on sale. I'm not sure what drives us as fishermen to always be searching for a better tool when we already have an effective tool for the job at hand. The havoc series plastics are great too for the price. They are fragile but work well. The flat dog is a great little wacky worm and you can rig it flat side down for a slow fall or skinny side down for a faster fall.

I'm hoping for something reasonably priced as well to fish around here where zebra mussels steal so many of my cranks that are meant to be ground through the rocks.

Seems like there are lots of 15$ knock offs of a 5$ bait? And few of them wobble as aggressive as a wart. I wish there were more knockoffs of the megabass 110 plus 1. Im curious too if anyone throws hot n tots in ww situations? I dont cast either but do troll them and both have a very wide erratic wobble.

If you do your own painting you could save huge coin. I'm surprised Luck-E-Strike hasn't come out with a +1 knockoff. brierpointer and Chunk Rock 2
dtrs5kprs Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 There were some great discussions of what it takes to make a bait hunt back in the old days of Tackle Underground (early 2000's). Hughesy would remember those. It is very hard to do intentionally, especially in a factory plastic bait. A lot of the wart mystique grew because they were basically not built right, or consistently, and it made them treasured fish catchers. Like a woman with a tiny scar in just the right place. Time will tell on these. Hard to see much of the lip angle and belly shape. Fritts is not the first guy that comes to mind when thinking of cranking Ozark lakes. Ham 1
dtrs5kprs Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Better pic of the lip angle. Not exactly wart-ish. Looks more like an old Bagley's bait. Still hard to tell on body width. Good colors though. No doubt it will work somewhere, not sure it will fill the wart niche. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Wild_Thang_85_Crankbait/descpage-WTH.html#multiview Ham 1
