David Unnerstall Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Wrench, Now that you mention it I do see more spiders. It seems I am walking into a lot more webs, this year, also.
Old plug Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 all this spider stuff. Wrench. You want me to come up there and spay those things. I have a partial can of bug pray left and I do not like to keep them over the winter. what do you think it would take to do the job 2 gals or 5.
Smallie Seeker Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 It seems like the chiggers and ticks are worse than they have ever been, almost every year. They spray suburban neighborhoods nightly during the summer for mosquitoes. There seems to just be more bugs than ever in recent history, and therefore more food for spiders as well. Bugs thrive in heat. Warmer tempretures = longer breeding seasons for bugs. Not saying that climate change and warmer temps are to blame. But it would make sense.
fishinwrench Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Well the spiders have thinned out quite a bit here since I first posted this. There for awhile it was getting rediculis and I killed a bunch of them. I'm sure they'll be back but for now the population density of the bigger ones is tolerable. I'm sure the big black/yellow ones with thier giant webs are thick in the dove hunting fields now, as always.
BilletHead Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Wrench and his arachnids. This time of the year into early October it can be a pain walking around in the woods. Orb weaver spiders take over every trail stretching their webs from bush to bush and tree to tree. Pretty neat as I have seen them make a strand many feet across a span so they can start their orb. Yesterday morning I found this one BEFORE I walked through it between the a bush by the house and the garage. This spider had to make a ten foot span to do this. If it was torn down he would rebuild it the next night. Talk about dedication ! fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 Yeah their energy level and amount of "silk" annoys me. Like any other undesirable they are tireless and consistent.
BilletHead Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Like a spider on meth right Wrench? They just keep on working! Relentless for their next fix whether it is for a buzz of the mind or a fix of a bug for the next meal. stlfisher Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Lot's of spiders this year in my basement too. More than I can ever remember. Wasp's have recently become a problem too...I had miniature swarm that took an entire tube of spray to eradicate.
