Updated info on new smallmouth special regs areas

The MDC makes the KDWPT look utterly inept, so even though smallmouth should be c&r only, imo, these are steps in the right direction. It's like they say, baby steps.

As someone who grew up just outside Wichita, I fully agree. The MDC isn't perfect, but the KDWPT - lets just say we are blessed.

Doesn't 15/1 mean anything over !5? Meaning, not for a meal's sake, but a trophy for some. So, anyone who catches an 18 incher or a 20 incher can walk out with it? How would that help? How would you like to see people carrying those size fish, legally, when you arrive at a stream? How would taking big fish consistently out of streams where it is known that their size is relatively rare. help overall fishing?

 

And really, what is the frigging point of possessing ONE FISH?! Good grief, its 2015. It's not salmon fishing on the Great Lakes.

That's your opinion as someone who seems to keep smallmouth for the pan...

To those of us who who want to see the numbers and size improve... Yes things are broken! And things are broken because of people keeping limits every time out... And poachers... And illegal giggers....

For the record, to be fair about Kansas Wildlife & Parks I've met a lot of great people that work really hard in Kansas but they have a tiny operating budget compared to MDC. As long as people keep and eat Smallmouth, the rivers will suffer.

For the record I will be at the Kirkwood meeting @‌ Powder Valley as it is just thru the woods from my place. I will tell the MDC just how I feel about their lame butt new regs if they let me near their podium, which I highly doubt. I will be representing myself and have no affiliation with any group like the MSA as I completely disagree their stance on these new regs. I think the new regs are just garbage and am not afraid of any blow back from the MDC if I offend them as they move at a crippled snails pace........I will be dead and gone before anything of substance happens with river fishing and game code violation enforcement. They are throwing bones to meat hunters like Oneshot and other knuckle draggers who feel it is their right to harvest whatever whenever. The MDC needs to know how many citizens of this state go other places with their cash now to fish for Smallies specifically because of the lame conditions here brought to you by the under funded apathy and reckless disregard for native river species. The MDC enforces trout streams more than any other river fishing situations and they are not even native and their numbers are only based on what numbers they stock paid for by our purchases and taxes......that's lame.
