Well my wife is working  three 12 to 15 hour shifts Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Then she has clinicals and NP school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. She just finished the second  semester  of this hell tour and had Friday off so we had to take advantage of it while our daughter was exploring her new Kindergarten  world.

We actually  had originally gone to the area to tour an Awesome  property  on the Courtuois. We looked at the place and ended up not getting out until 12:15. We floated from the Courtuois  to the Huzzah and into the Meramec. I started out walking the dawg with okay success only a few here and there but they were  all dinks. The water level was up about 6 inches but a very stable flow. The water temps had dropped  bigtime  since I had been there two weeks prior....the high temp only felt like 78 yesterday. The topwater  just wasn't  really holding  my interest. I had promised  myself to use Mitch's  craw as it just seems like I am stuck on Topwater  baits  recently. What a good decision  that was.The first  log I threw Mitch's  craw to produces a fat 16. It seems like as long as you made a good cast to the logs In moving water with that craw they would just gobble it up. This lure was on fire!!!!! I proceeded to just tear up some fish in the Huzzah, it was honestly  one of my better days of smallie fishing in Missouri  in awhile. Several  17 + fish and large amount of fish from 15 to 16...not giants but man was it fun!!!! The Mitch craw seems to be a bigger fish bait IMO....I just don't catch dinks with that thing. If you know how to fish a jig you will excel with the Mitch Craw. When we got to the confluence  of the Huzzah and the Meramec just down stream is a nice big log and I threw  the craw in to that thing and felt  the bump and on this fish for some reason I felt it was big and set the hook like an Elite series angler and almost tipped the canoe. Initially  I though I had snagged  the log but, when I had big wide head shakes I really got  excited. ....too excited!!! A Bronze beast broke the surface that was 20 for sure, a true Ozark beast!!! I fought her not very well and was it was amateur  hour really....lost the fish after it bulldozered me at the canoe three times....Landing bigone's in a canoe without  a net is precarious. Even with loosing the hawg it's was just a crazy good day of fishing and relaxing  for my wife....Mitch's  craw is LEGIT.

Hahahaha......I'm sure Kate wouldn't  appreciate but, I was just trying g to show how she lays on the front t of our canoe....I don't think she has sat in a canoe  in a decade.

Mitch's craws are really good....I was fishing  it on a football head he pours....here is the one they were eating  yesterday  and a root beer color he did for ultra clear water.

Well it seems like I have reached  my limit of posting pics on this thread??? It would t let me post anymore....sorry

Great report and pics! awesome looking bronze back. Mitch's craws look nice, especially with that jig head, looks like they pair up nicely!

Nice fish smalliebigs. It's been a great year on the Huzzah and Meramec, atleast for me. Good size and numbers and all but one trip. Those crawls look nice, hope to get my hands on them one day. Thanks for the report. Pics of the livery canoe got a good laugh.

Man, I'm at work and you're doing this?

Looks like a hell of a fun day, glad you were able to get out.

I think the middle and lower stretches on the Meramec weren't that good this year because of all the rain kept things messed up. But up by the Huzzah it was a much better river I'm sure.

Sounds like an awesome day! We had a stellar day on the Gasconade yesterday as well. The weather and water conditions seem to have finally aligned!
