Alex Heitman Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Fished all day today and them on a crank. Did not load the boat up but did catch quality all day. Probably just shy of 20 lbs for the best 5. Some real nice smallmouth and LM. Back of coves and main lake points. Nothing on jig like I've heard being reported. I'm tired of throwing jigs and not getting bit. I love to throw a big but I simply think it is a waste of time for me on this lake. I used to be able to catch them all the time but for what ever reason they never bite it for me. I am probably doing something wrong but I will not throw one for a while. Here is a few pics. My dad has some more pics that I will post later. WT 80-81 rps, Phil Lilley, magicwormman and 3 others 6
Mitch f Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Way to go Alex! Nice fish....that's a heck of a bag "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
SplitG2 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Congrats Alex! I'm the opposite. I can usually scrounge some up on jigs but have hard time on crank baits. Thanks for sharing.
merc1997 Bo Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 very nice bass. in the areas that i had been catching them, the shad and bass were not around today. did notice that i saw the most activity in the back of pockets and steeper stuff. bo
Champ188 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Alex, I think the problem may be those shorts. Your crank bait fish are drive-by's. Slower-moving jig fish are paralyzed by the glow.
Alex Heitman Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Champ you may be right. It's been an awesome morning so far. 2 nice fish at same time on a 5xd and a big LM abkeenan 1
buzzbaitr Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Wow that looks like a great day so far! Great job!
mjk86 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Great post and report, those are some very nice LM. I cant catch a crankbait fish to save my life unless im cheating and trolling them...that said, this year i caught more fish trolling cranks (and at outrageous speeds) than in years past. I wonder if this year is a better crankbait bite than normal?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 25, 2015 Root Admin Posted August 25, 2015 One of those bass in the net looks like a meanmouth... is it?
