MOPanfisher Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 No worries, my mistake changed the entire meaning of the post.
jolicious Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 indeed J-Doc. You are correct. I was thinking it was amazing how a fish could get something like that into it's gullet. But then I thought about those TX steakhouses where you can get a 72oz steak for free of you eat it in an hour. Maybe catfish have the same sort of ritual. Good luck getting an "I ate then whole thing in One Hour" T-shirt on a Catfish.... M_Taylor 1
bluebasser86 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Flatheads will occasionally throw up everything they've eaten recently while you're fighting them. I had a little 20 pounder throw up a partially digested bass that was every bit of 4 pounds one time. Flats and big blues like the one in the video are predators and much more capable of catching live prey fish than a lot of folks give them credit for. Flysmallie and Champ188 2
J-Doc Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I guess crappie are also now a hated species by bass anglers. This was found floating today on Beaver Lake and sent to me via messenger. And all this time I've been investing in crappie jigs when I should have invested in big swimbaits! (kidding) Dan the fisherman and Lance34 2 Need marine repair? J-Doc Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Yeah but that's no surprise. Bass will eat about anything. Including baby ducks and such. But a crappie or catfish eating a poor defenseless little baby bass.....Oh the horror!! Lol! I shouldn't joke. I did find the photo odd. Rare to see a crappie eating bass of that size. Champ188 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 You Beaver guys can add that to your list of excuses for not catching bass ... crappie ate them all, too many shad, etc.
J-Doc Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 You Beaver guys can add that to your list of excuses for not catching bass ... crappie ate them all, too many shad, etc. Actually I thought of you initially since you like crappie as well as bass. I figured this would make your head explode seeing a crappie eating a bass. Oh and I catch nothing BUT bass if I'm trolling for crappie or walleye. Seems like you catch walleye when you're bass fishing, bass when you're walleye fishing, and walleye when you're crappie fishing. Vicious cycle... Tanderson15 and Lance34 2 Need marine repair? Champ188 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 That's true. There's always a very good chance of catching walleye in the winter on Beaver on a jerk bait. Never pass up that timber bluff just east of Coppermine, especially the gravel runout polnt on the downstream end.

Vicious cycle... Yup. Like the 19" wally I caught in May on a spook in about a foot of water near the HWY 12 bridge.
