5bites Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 what do you consider to be THE shaky head jig head? The best one out there in your opinion. Bonus points if they don't come with the screw on bait keeper. What weight/weights do you commonly use?
OldMillRoad Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1469107-boss-brent-ehrler-shakey-head I've had the best luck with this one. 3/16 is what I use the most, I'll go to an 1/8 in the Spring. fishingaddiction and mojorig 2
mojorig Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I like the boss shakey head as well. Jeremy Risley District Fisheries Supervisor AGFC Mountain Home Office - 1-877-425-7577 Email: Jeremy.Risley@agfc.ar.gov
abkeenan Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I happen to like the screw on head. I like the Buckeye Spot Removers pro model with that screw lock head (NOT the one with just the nail head). They get hung up more than standard round ball heads but they stand strait up and the the angle of the hook always seems to have a good hookup percentage for me. Weight is determined on depth, bottom contour/composition and wind factor. So anywhere from 1/8-1/4 for me. Champ188 and fishingaddiction 2
Travis Swift Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I'm pretty partial to my stand up football head's I make. Fish24/7, crazy4fishin, Bassmod and 1 other 4
Travis Swift Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 if you wanna get really crazy on a shakey head that's beefed up, check these bad boys out. I make them in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 oz all the way up to a size 7/0 hook. Please excuse the lousy picture. Fish24/7 and Pepe 2
5bites Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 The screw lock thing doesn't bother me as much on the big heads and worms. The little worms I'm not a fan. Arkie has the setup I like best so far. I'll see if I can dig up a pic. magicwormman 1

The short shank hook is just right for the smaller plastics. Like Ab I use 1/8 to 1/4 size depending on how deep and windy the conditions. Hook Line & Sinker in Rogers also makes a Bass X head that has a longer shank hook that is useful for larger plastics and especially big worms, it also has a screw lock head. These are good in heavier weights. Champ188 1 Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

I ended up making a mold a few years ago because there were none around.
fishingaddiction Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Very nice looking heads Travis. If I am fishing with anything at or above 3/8 oz I am using a skirted football jig with a trailer. Your extra large heads would certainly have a different look for those deep fish. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
