Brian Jones Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Know very little about this case, but remember several on here talking about it in another thread. Pretty interesting report. http://fox2now.com/2015/10/29/questions-remain-over-handcuffed-man-drowning-in-police-custody/
Old plug Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It happened about 400 ft from my home. The boat patrolman handcuffed his hands behind his back and put a ski type Life jacket over his body. Then sped off to fast and threw the kid out of the boat going through large wakes. All in violation of the proceedures he was suppose to be following. The case is far from settled. I am sure you can google up about everything you need by just googling Ellison drowning in lake of the Ozarks. Only question I know that remains is somebody going to go to prison for man slaughter.
fishinwrench Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Piercy won't go to prison because he has taken the "I wasn't trained properly" defense. Kinda funny considering how aggressive and confident he was out there on the water BEFORE that happened.
Old plug Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I am not certain if that just yet wrench. Was aggressive out the on the roads as well. Had a reputation that spanned 3 counties.
awhuber Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Looks like everything is fine out there. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/arrests-for-drunken-boating-plummet-on-missouri-waterways/article_f3cbea03-26a3-5e94-be72-7f85a9baf3bb.html
fishinwrench Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 The death sentence for alleged BUI serves as one hell of a deterrent. Only problem is that some of the DD's have so little experience operating watercraft that a drunk would be safer. awhuber and Greasy B 2
Flysmallie Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 It's laughable to even think that the reason for the decline is because Nixon Merged the Highway and Water Patrol. That's hilarious. I don't hang out on that lake but my sister and BIL have a boat on the lake and they barely took it out last year due to water conditions. Less people on the water equals less drinking on the water.
fishinwrench Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I would question the number of arrests vs. the number of convictions. Would love to see a percentage rate on that. These people have money and the ability to make charges go away, so although their numbers of 'arrests" might show a decline I bet the amount of money paid into the system would indicate a steady flow. Because an arrest without a conviction does not remain on record.
ollie Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Looks like justice was served in the end. Thank God. http://news.yahoo.com/missouri-trooper-charged-handcuffed-iowa-mans-drowning-205108238.html "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

The kid was killed, a slap on the wrist doesn't equate justice in my book and that is a big if. Old plug 1
