Ham Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Richard Cross is coming out with a Zig Jig that is going to have the Mustad 33832 Steelhead hook. I've caught a lot of cool /cold water smallies on Zig Jigs. I'm looking forward to trying the heavy duty ones to see how they do. The hair jigs certainly look great and if you say they work, I know they will work. I've tired a few, but I get more enjoyment from fishing than I do from tying. Ham Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Mitch, the HD's are just hitting the market as we speak and I am not at all certain they are shown on website. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Seldom do they ever touch the bottom. When I do make minnow patterns, I usually make them like this. That Phil Shafer guy at Stockton taught me to make these about 15 years ago. Quillback Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Nice looking jigs Mitch. Some of those colors would work real well for steelhead.

I love those things. The 1/16 oz and 1/8 oz oz put 100's and 100's of fish in my boat every year. I should use them more for crappie and white bass, but fantastic for trout everywhere AND cold/cool water smallies too( even in your neck of the woods). The HD is really a fix for some guys out west catching mutant trout in a lake, but I think it will allow for a little more robust hooksets and pulling on smallies and White Bass / Wipers. I think it will be offered in about 12 colors. Your stuff is awesome Mitch, but tying is a tedious struggle for me and if i can buy em, I will. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
