I burn down the bank with the troller on high, batteries smoking, having my brother pour cool water into my spool and gear case as I wind, grinding the bills of a wiggle wart into a nub every 10 minutes all while listening to this song on repeat on full blast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BRv9wGf5pk dtrs5kprs 1
5bites Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Has anyone noticed a difference in the braking performance from the low end lews to the high end? I tried the newish lfs $100 special and just don't like the brakes. I'm a daiwa guy and love their braking best especially for pitching and you've heard me preach that before. Anyway was just curious if the brakes were better or perhaps a lighter spool in the high end lews.

I do recommend this one if you are going to be flipping: https://youtu.be/Fmfs71dzyLU Have to admit, my kid's "songs for hitting" linebacker music goes through my head while I fish.

I mostly still pitch with an old Chronarch or other Shimano. To me the Lews are best at distance casting, especially with a bait that does not have aerodynamic challenges...jigs, compact blades, swing heads, shakey, etc.

I can just picture you sitting out in 35 feet of water, little breeze, high skies and just rocking out to this for 10 hours with Ned gear in hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5PvBzDlZGs

It's quite the sight.

There I said it. Well, I felt the same way. But a couple of weeks ago I bought the Abu Garcia 6'6" medium action rod for lighter crank baits. Yes I admit that it is white. So to make it really stand out, i also bought a red reel to put on it. Now I feel special. I do like the feel of them and the rig is certainly lighter than the Berkeley rod and PQ reel I was using. I'm hoping the fish will see it in my hand and laugh so hard that they will not realize i have a lure tied on the end of it and they bite it while laughing. Mike

Looks like the ol' T3's will stick around a while longer. Btw, if you are a centrifugal fan try the 13 fishing concept reels. I bought an "A" and it's an excellent reel for pitching.

Mike I am only kidding about the pantywaist Ned riggers. When the bite is tough there isn't anything that will get you more bites than that little rig. I usually have one on the deck. I am also not really a power fisherman. More often than not I am using a jig or slow moving bait. I leave the water churning to Champ. Champ188, Quillback and dtrs5kprs 3
