Love me some MLF.....I was hoping that some of the clubs around here would adopt a format like this, logistics would be tough I guess having a "ref" in each boat....I especially like the penalty format around fish handling.

It could be done without a ref, if the club used a straight draw format like the old BASS format. I've fished paper derbies that way, including state federation events, that were paper due to restrictive lake rules, etc. Really worked out pretty well. Would work even better with the MLF format (penalties aside) since fish are weighed and not "weighed" on a golden rule weighmaster board. Would just have to be sure everyone had the same scale, maybe provided by the club.
