Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 30, 2015 Root Admin Posted December 30, 2015 From the Corps - Table Rock's current lake elevation is 932.10. We have dropped Table Rock almost one foot since it crested approximately 24 hours ago.At 5 pm today we will be lowering our spillway gates from a 4-1/2' opening to a 2' opening. This will cut our release from 73,000 cfs to 47,000 cfs. In my discussions with the District Office we will most likely reduce our releases again sometime tomorrow.
JestersHK Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Good news! A question of curiosity, but what is the maximum they can open the flood gates? Does this mean no more one casts out the window?
Bill Babler Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I called the corps last night after the 6 PM news and Taney had dropped 7' at that time, so I got a feeling the new Show "Window Cast" may be over. It is really silly that all the Springfield stations keep reporting the lake level at 932, they really have no idea what the Monkey Bread is gong on down here and try as best as they can to show it in the worst light possible. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

That's just normal media right there. They aren't going to talk about it unless they can sensationalize the crap out of it and blow it way out of proportion. Deadstream and Mitch f 2
Bill Babler Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Ya, Smallie I agree with you 100% Really the problem is the weather cast should be above that kind of stuff, but oddly they have just as much sensationalism as the talking heads at the anchor desk and the producers. It has just gotten out of hand. I would not believe anything I either hear or see on any of the Springfield news stations. It is all about rating, and facts don't come into play in the slightest. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Smithvillesteve Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 My heart goes out to you people down at Taneycomo. I only fish down there a couple times a year but really enjoy the experience. Could somebody please explain something to me. There was an article in Sunday's Star up here in KC about the highlights/lowlights of 2015. One of the top stories was of all the rain we had early in the year. Table Rock high, Bull Shoals 30 ft high, Truman and Stockton record high levels, Kansas lakes record high levels. They quoted a guy from the Corp as saying, "these lakes did exactly what they were built for, flood control". Why is it that they release water at such levels to flood Taneycomo? They dont release water like that below Taneycomo, or Stockton, or Truman or other lakes? Last time i was down at Taneycomo I saw signs in peoples yards claiming, "Corp get your act together!!" "Corps needs to think about their decisions!!" Obviously people not real happy about the Army Corps of Engineers. Maybe these other lakes release water like that but it doesnt have businesses below the dam like Taneycomo? I realize Lake of Ozarks is not a Corp lake. Anyway, I hope everybody down there stays safe.
