Members HardHead Posted January 14, 2016 Members Posted January 14, 2016 Swing impact. The action is pretty unreal. Been swimming the 3inchers on 1/8 to 3/8 ball jigs. Anyone use small swimbait jig heads? I'd love to hear suggestions on how to make the most of the swing impact. Thanks in advance for any info
Members gruber Posted January 14, 2016 Members Posted January 14, 2016 I fish them on 3/8 oz. underspin jig head, the one that Jewel makes, it won't roll on you, that's the key for me, I slow roll it like a spinnerbait.......... Champ188 1

Quillback Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Keitechs are great baits. Very soft, so I'll superglue them to the head. Been thinking about swimming them on a drop shot set up. Something new to try this year.
Bill Babler Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Quill, I have tried and tried to get them to go on a shot, but just cannot get it to happen as well as with the drop shot worm. Don't know if you lose all the action by not swimming it but it just does not work well for me up and down. Another great technique this time of the year is to fish a grub straight up and down. I have tried it on a 3/8 oz. jig head, with very poor results. I can switch and put on a Chompers smoke pepper or a Yamamoto smoke red flex Ctail grub and bamm I get hit. That Keitech for me just has to be moving and get that tail a wiggling and calling for the best reaction. That is just me and my clients, I'll bet for sure some others have had it work for them. dtrs5kprs 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
MOsmallies Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 The Revenge Darter Hedz are nice little jigheads for smaller swimbaits and A-Rigs. 1/4 oz is the heaviest size though... http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Revenge_Darter_Hedz_3pk/descpage-RDH.html
mjk86 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 These are probably my favorite baits for catching anything that swims/versatility. When in doubt sling a 4inch swing impact and slow swim it back....although i prefer the 5.8inch because i feel like i get the same amount of bites, but bigger ones. I usually rig them on a EWG hook texas style with a bullet weight and bobber stop. If grass/junk isnt a concern then any old swimmin jig will work. Dont forget about a weightless attack...that tail thumps hard on the fall even without a weight. Yes...they are pricey..but i am a cheapo when it comes to gear, and I still think these are worth every penny. Tips....get a jig head with no collar...that collar is harder on them than the fish. Just use use a collarless jig, and a drop of loctite glue. Give it a ten count and your ready to roll. Also...if the head is ripped just keep on pinchin and re gluing cuz fish will eat it as long as the tail is swimming.....seriously they will eat it 1 inch long. When the tail rips off but the rest of the body is still alright, they do work great as a ds worm in my opinion. I turn them sideways on the hook and split whats left of the tail section in two similar to a super fluke. Im sure other worms might work better...but when it comes to keitech baits i use all of the buffalo. I have some of their other baits, but ive never used them. I like that buzzing frog that they make. Also.....the two inch swing impacts are crappie magnets. I fish them on a 1/64th oz no collar jig head, and can usually get several crappies per bait...although dink bass rip em up. If casting is a problem with such a light jig, rig it a few feet under a spring bobber (indicator...lol). The tail kicks nicely on the fall, then as soon as the bobber stands up, give it a slow pull and reel in ur slack. I have yet to find a swimbait that swims at a slower speed then the SI/easy shiner. Ive caught bass, crappie, white bass, hybrids, walleye, bluegill, catfish, drum, and even a musky albeit a little one on them. Ranger Z22, Riverwhy and Champ188 3

Any head with a gammy suck in it will work just fine. The loctite gel (silver and blue bottle) is the deal on gluing any soft plastic to a head or mending a torn up bait. Heck I use that gel to glue my split skin back together on the golf course. Any bait that looks like a 2-4" fish will catch anything like you said. I use the Bobby Garland 3" swimmin' minnow in smoke and like you said it will catch anything that swims.

Haven't tried drop shotting them, but have been surprised that little swimbaits don't work better on a split shot/c-rig, or swing head. Thought that would be an alternative to scrubbing them, or a grub, on a ball or dart head.
Rodmaker Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Keitech swing impact..... love em....I fish them on a Texas rig. Light wire red worm hook with a 1/8 to 1/4 oz slip sinker with a GLASS bead. I generally fish it pretty slow. Its a deadly tactic...... at least for me. Quillback 1
