Members gwh
St Louis paper has article today on COE testing water to see if there is development interest in 100 room lodging, restaurant, conference center with boat mooring structure on 331 acres. Only gauging interest at this time not soliciting final development proposals. marcus
marcus
the coe makes such an effort to keep people from building on the lake now it seems like they wanna spend some money to make some money i wonder where the funding comes from
MOPanfisher
The COE isn't spending money, they aren't going to build it. They are attempting to see if anyone is interested in developing the area.
Old plug
Bet they get takers. Looks like all you people in Gods country are going to be right up here in the ssme boat with LOZ. Their have been more than one outfit wanting to build a casino around here. Sounds like fresh prime meat to me. You have Silver Dollar city. Plus the branson attractions. If the corp want to do this the developers will be beating down their door. Have no idea what the casino laws are in Ark. In Missouri the law is riverboat. Prevents them from doing lakes. Haris122
Personally I'd like Mark Twain to continue to not to have much development on it. marcus
Members BLUEWATER
Why? It's such an ugly lake with poor fishing. The local speed traps may put up funding $. bkbying89 and Brian Jones

bkbying89
Wasn't there talk about doing some development way back when? Somewhere down around the Middlefork and Southfork. I'm talking the same kind of development mentioned in the first post. I don't believe there was a lot of interest in it at the time. By the way "ugly is as ugly does". Haris122
Quote Why? It's such an ugly lake with poor fishing. The local speed traps may put up funding $. The few times I've been there, I liked the fact that there isn't a lot of lights at night right on the lake there, and that lodging is relatively cheap and you don't have to book weeks in advance to get it. As to the fishing, first time was kind of crappy, but last time I fished there things were starting to improve. So I'm not sold yet that it's poor fishing there. marcus
bkbying89
Haris122, I think someone was yanking the chain with that crack about MK being an ugly lake. It really is a pretty lake without a bunch of old shacks and docks like LOZ. The problem I always had was going out on a dark night and finding your way back by the light of all those stars. Made you just want to stay out until morning. The fish are there, they are hard to keep track of them with the water fluctuation.
