I'd agree with you on most cranks abk, but warts are a little different. I can't tell you how many big bass I've caught on the wart that were just barely hooked on that back treble. I want the sharpest, stickiest thing money can buy back there. I've been really happy with the light wire gama "finesse treble". I think the light wire just sticks easier, and is also easier to bend when you hang a custom painted pre-rap in a big rock or run it into a brush pile.

Oh, I know. I am just saying I don't think treble are quite as important on cranks as the jerks and topwater. My warts all have either Owner Stinger ST-41's or Mustad KVD Elites riding on them. I leave nothing to chance as I need all the help I can get to get a fish to the boat.

I didn't like the KVD hooks. While they are sharp, I thought the 2x wire was too thick to penetrate easy. Love them on square bills and they are ok on deep cranks, but warts I really like the thinner wire.

Yep. Light line, soft rods, and more of a worm bite than anything else, make light wires the deal. I've run #6 gammies on warts for over 15 years. Just think they stick tissue a touch better.

Once upon a time some Pro mentioned that he upgraded his crankbait hooks and all the neophyte fishermen immediately thought that sounded like a cool thing to do (cuz we just love hotrodding things).

Again I am taken back to the day, not so long ago, when the stock hooks that come on crankbaits TODAY are way better than the ones that loaded so many boats in the past.

I can somehow get the crappy hooks to bury in the carpet or life jacket better than the fish. Never fails.

Back in the day everyone sharpend those hooks rather than change them. I'll take a few seconds with split ring pliers vs trying to put a point on those old chrome beak hooks with a stone any day-

I agree with this, but replacement hooks are super cheap...and I have 100% confidence that it makes a difference in certain situations.  I used to have lots of walleyes shake free at the boat, now every flicker shad i use has #4 daiichis or gammies, and its a pretty rare occurrence anymore with me.  Obviously operator error will cause em to come unbuttoned, but much less so with good trebles.

That bait looks similar to the Cotton Cordell Baby Wiggle O. They sold for $1.99 at walmart. Too bad they're out of production.
