Ham Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Desire to go fishing overrode common sense. Silly amounts of wind today. Bull was a rough as I've ever seen it. I have gotten better behind the wheel of my Bass Cat though. It was a bumpy ride, but I stayed on top of them coming and going. Troughs are the worst. Only went completely airborne a handful of times. water temps were roughly 44 degrees. My two Humminbirds were not in agreement. I'll take an old school trout stream thermometer and adjust the units to that if possible (Griz?). Wind had stirred the lake up a tad. In some areas I had 5 foot visibility in other areas I had about 2 foot. I had too much wind almost everywhere I wanted to fish. I'm not great at fishing in White caps ever, but especially when the water is low 40's. I fished where I could using a rig, football jig, jerk bait, and Ned rig. With the lake falling a foot a day, I didn't run way to the backs of stuff. Maybe I should have. I could hardly have done worse. To the best of my knowledge, I had one bite today. I was fortunate enough to hook and land that lone fish. Pretty decent Spotted Bass. I sure was happy to catch her. Fat little thing. I bought a Humminbird 688 CI HD for up front when Cabelas had them a good sale price. It is slow to acquire GPS satellites, but I have GPS functionally up front again. And an accurate water temp, and no more interference when Imuse the TM. Woot! I launched at Diamond City on the ramp into West Sugarloaf. I got the boat off the trailer without all four truck tires in the water, but my goretex boots came in handy. Lake level was 665.40. Much better at 665 and a smudge when I put the boat back on the trailer. Main ramp that launches closer to the marina is still flooded. Looks like it's close to being usable ; I would guess 663 or so it comes back into play. I stunk it up today. I'll be pretty mad at them next time I get to go. mixermarkb, james, Dewayne French and 1 other 4 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Jerry Rapp Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 gps is good sometimes. And be sure the TM is still securely attached. Ham 1
Quillback Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 If the wind was blowing at Bull like it was blowing here in Bella Vista today, then you certainly had some wind. I like fishing slow in cold water and that is hard to do when it's whitecapping out there. mixermarkb 1
Ham Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 It was ridiculous. I really should have stayed home and gotten some things done. My trip was ill advised at best. dtrs5kprs and mixermarkb 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

mixermarkb Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Well Ham, I don't feel so bad now. My report is about the same as yours, I started around 8:30am and didn't get a bite until after 2pm. Water was a little warmer I think where I was- Ham 1

Adding them together ups my chance at dying while catching next to nothing. The trout will get their's. mixermarkb 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

That's like telling a stoner he needs to build a greenhouse. How does that help me? I'll end up with 100 rods instead of 50. You need to help me sell half of what I own. mixermarkb and dtrs5kprs 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
