crazy4fishin Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I use the Lews 6lb for my Ned rig.....so far it has handled all of the 12" fish that I catch just fine! C4F Champ188, Ron Burgundy and Quillback 3 Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
Longball22 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I was told that BPS Excel is made by Sufix, and I agree that it is pretty good line for the $$$. The BPS fluorocarbon is an interesting story. I believe they changed manufacturers a few years back, when it went from the white box to the yellow/purple. I have tried both, and I think there is a noticeable difference in the new stuff. It is terrible! I actually found several spools of the old white boxes in the Catalog Outlet last year, and haven't looked back.

I had enough abrasion and breakage issues with that stuff to swear off of it. Just my experience. big c 1

I started using the 6-pound Excel mono on my spinning reels when one of the top tournament anglers ever in NW Arkansas personally recommended it. He's not sponsored by Bass Pro Shops ... in fact, the only sponsor he has at all is War Eagle ... so he wasn't pimping Excel line. Through the years, I can hardly recall any break-offs on it. And it's cheap enough that you can afford to change it often, as ANY spinning line is going to twist and wear over a fairly short period of time. I later decided to try the heavier Excel line (17 and 20 pound) for my spinner baits and topwaters. Can't tell that I've lost any performance from P-Line CXX and again, it's much cheaper and allows me to change more frequently. I'm not sure how many actual line factories are out there, but Plug is on the button about there only being a few and that a lot of different brand lines are made in the same facility. I use Cabela's store brand fluorocarbon and I can assure you that Cabela's does not have a line factory. Neither does BPS. I use 10 lb Excel a lot. It's great line. Very smooth casting line. Never have problems with it.
Sore Thumbs Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Red label is not so good. I love Invizx. Seagar hates cold weather though.
