DId some bank fishing with a friend round eureka yesterday, started off fast with some small spots and drum coming out of eddies. water color still had the nice green tint with a bit of cloudiness. fished multiple colored jigs, spinnerbaits , road runners . Nearing the end of the time we had to mess around my friend says "holy shooot something massive just hit my bait" he was using a ultralight with  4 pound tess and a pink road runner.  struck in around 3 fooot of water , biggest largemouth ive seen in person on the meremac

i only fished that area a couple times everytime i got skunked.....nice fish who would have guessed that big ole' pig was hiding in there ...well done sir

My guess is a lot of big largemouth got moved into the river system from farm ponds and Simpson lake when it flooded.

Wow! Thats a hoss of a largemouth! Great report man. I've caught a few decent Largemouth but none like that.

That's what I was thinking.  There are quite a few golf ponds in Aberdeen golf course and a few mine ponds near Rt 66 State park that most likely got flooded when the river came up and I'm sure those held some decent fish that got into the river.
