Members THE RAT Posted March 28, 2016 Members Posted March 28, 2016 I got on the water with a friend of mine Saturday morning at around 0830 and fished the Cow Creek area. The wind was calm and the water had a green stain to it of about 3 to 4 foot visibility. Water temp in the morning was 51 degrees and we saw as much as 57 degrees in the afternoon. We came to fish Warts so that's what we did. The wind wasn't in our favor that day as it never really got consistent. My friend got 2 nice fish pictured both on a Pre Rapala Brown Craw WW. I ended up with only 2 fish myself, 1 being a skinny keeper small mouth. Anyway, only had 3 keepers for the day but had a good day on the water. I did notice Moss starting to form in the lake around the dam area. Not sure if this is going to get better or worse?? magicwormman, dtrs5kprs, Dewayne French and 2 others 5
Bill Babler Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Rat, those are simply wonderful fish on a very well written report. You just try and find a report like that anywhere else, and I'm telling you, you will be hard pressed. Thanks a Bunch. mjk86 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 What a chunky spot. Those things are like footballs. Nice report.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Good report on the best site. Guarantee it will help someone catch fish this week. And the goop will no doubt get worse. It will bye-bye warts pretty soon.
Macsimus Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Beautiful fish! Having been in the area myself on Sat, I know how hard they were to come by. Did you catch them early? Thanks for your post. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Bill Babler Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I really don't think early is the deal on this crankbait bite. I think it is more timing. Some guys are catching them on chunk, some on flat gravel and some on ledge. If they are there, its on. If not you suck. Guy coming in 45 minutes later working the same bank can catch a toad sack. It is all timing, and really does not depend as much on what your throwing. Then we have Alex. That boy is just plumb special. Maybe one day he will take me. I'll blindfold myself or take a blood oath. Alex and his clan are without a doubt in a league all there own with plastic crawdaddy deals. Members THE RAT Posted March 28, 2016 Author Members Posted March 28, 2016 Macsimus......The banks that we could find that had a little wind on them later in the afternoon is where the fish were caught. It was tough in the morning with cold surface temps and flat calm conditions. Good Luck Macsimus 1
Nitro 750 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I found the moss in some areas in the Long Creek area on Saturday also, Great pics and thanks for the report.
m&m Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Rat, thank you for the report. Saturday was one of those "just keep throwing the lure" days. I agree with Bill that timing is a key during this spring. When you catch one, keep working it because it could be good for the next hour or so. Mike
