For many years Broken Bow was my destination lake. Nancy and I car camped in a VW bug there in law school. We stayed in the CCC cabins at Beavers Bend with little babies. We moved up to the fancier new log cabins in the 80's. Nancy caught a spotted bass there larger than any I have ever caught - nearly 5 pounds. I learned to Charlie Brewer fish there. On that lake Martin Mangieri (RIP) proved to me why the Wiggle Wart was superior to the Fat Rap.

The only thing I did not like? It was a touch over 4 hours from where I lived.

I suck at guessing weight in fish. I called Bills just over 5, and would call this one in the 8 maybe "maybe" range.  Nice fish in the article either way.

These are huge fish! Babblers was huge too. I bought a Hog Trough and will get a scale like Hog Wally's soon, to avoid all the skepticism. Too bad I haven't caught a fish big enough for a pic recently? Anyway, my once a month fishing ain't getting any better anytime soon, my wife is due in 3 weeks or so.
