Here is a question for all....does anyone know of any research that has been done to confirm that you catch more fish by using a smaller test lb leader instead of just tying the heavier line directly to the lure?  I ask that because I would think that it is just one more opportunity (the additional knot) for a weak spot that can break.  I see the heavy wires of the A-rig and think the fish must certainly see those wires. And yet many fish are still caught on the A-rig.  The only times I use a leader is when I am fishing a weightless fluke and that is because i use a swivel to reduce line twist or when using a C-rig and that is so the lure floats above the weight.  I'm not trying to hijack the topic but I was just wondering about leaders and their effectiveness.

Lot of reasons not to run straight braid. Works great in grass, though.

I am happy it works for you.  The WAY he ties the knot makes it much easier. Here is the video

Looks much easier to tie than the crazy Alberto I have been using. I will try this. Thanks.

On the Albright that I tie, I make a loop with the FC and make 4 and only 4 wraps with the braid. I go back thru the loop, under the loop and back thru, then cinch it down. KInd of an improved Albright.  Knot is very small and it takes under 30 seconds even if you have never done it before.  Never had a knot break.  Making 8 wraps X two is just a lot of tying.  Yes you can do that at home, but try and pull that off on the water when time is of importance.

If they are breaking either one of those, its time for a new reel with a drag system that works.

That's the biggest issue, can you tie it when the wind blows...

I've used this knot for a year and a half    Never have seen a problem with it.   I use 30 - 50.   Coated. Line.  With 8-15 flouro.

But I totally recommend. Wetting the flouro.  No matter what     As it cinches smoother yet    Titanium guides. Are much quieter this way.

I like the modified Albright for braid to fluoro connections. I've used it on my bass gear with 15# braid and 8-12# fluoro on up to my snaggin/catfish setups with 100# braid and 50-80# mono. It comes through the rod guides very well. In the past, I used a double uni knot and it works, but after watching the modified Albright beat out the double unit on Knot Wars, I made the switch. It's a bit tricky to tie at first, but it's really easy after you practice it a few times. I'm able to tie the modified Albright almost as fast as the double uni nowadays.

I'm pretty new to the forum and I'll share what I've found.

Started using braid on spinning gear 4 years ago with a flouro leader and a version of the albright knot. Zero knot fails. Includes rigging a couple of spinning rods for my son the same way.

Like any knot with flouro, it can't be kinked or it will fail. I leave the flouro loop with a radius and only wrap the braid over the flouro. 15-20 wraps, wet, pull braid tight. Even with a 6-8 ft leader it slides thru the guides no problem. 10-20 braid to 6-12 flouro depending on rig.
