moodyfour Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Glad everyone had a great morning. For the first time in over 30 years I will not be spring turkey hunting. Between work and kid's activities on each weekend I just won't have any time to dedicate to it this year. I look forward to seeing all the reports and especially the pics!
Deadstream Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I am "enjoying" Corona Del Mar, Ca. until Thursday night. Folks and family came first this year. I will hunt a week or so in Missouri then I head up to Michigan for late turkey season there. And Billethead I agree, Fried turkey with a little spice, some fresh fungus and asparagus.... I hope thats what heaven serves. Nice birds everybody! BilletHead and slab slinger 2
ciRe Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I shot this one at 0605. 22lbs 10" beard and 1 3/4" Spurs. Deadstream, Johnsfolly, slab slinger and 4 others 7
ciRe Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 20 minutes later my buddy called his in to complete the double. Forgot the go pro in the morning. I was riding the 4 wheeler to get the go pro and drop my bird off when he shot his. Overall a great morning. And I now get to save 4 days of vacation time to put it towards a different hunting / fishing trip His was 19lbs 8" beard with 1" Spurs. slab slinger, JohnP, JestersHK and 4 others 7

That is just insane! I'm really wanting to get a full body turkey mount, but I am waiting until I can bust one with those 1.5" hooks that I've seen on other peoples turkeys. The bird I got yesterday was my 22nd spring bird and many had 7/8-1" spurs, but no big hooks. slab slinger 1
BilletHead Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Well done Slab Slinger and ciRe! Yes I am with Seth those are some big spurs.. I can't beat the inch and an eighth mark. Have had several around that size over the years though. Again nicely done gentlemen. Couldn't get Mrs. BilletHead a shot this morning. Drizzle and rain. Seen many birds just making rounds in a couple of fields. Not paying attention to anything. Johnsfolly Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Congrats to everyone that got birds! Definitely jealous thinking about being out in the turkey woods or fields, while I am stuck at work preparing for a big meeting this week.

I also use that type of cushion, even have them glued to jon boat benches. They are inexpensive, very durable, shed water well and the mice etc. leave them alone.(well they just barely nibble on them)
slab slinger Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I have always wanted to shoot a limb hanger with hook like that. Wow. Thats an old boss Tom with books like that. I would mount that dude for sure. I have shot 29 birds and not came close to 1 3/4 spurs yet. My PB set is 1 1/4. Have shot 3 double beards but all three had spurs 1"-1 1/8" long. Congrats man thats a true mature gobbler. Great bird. BilletHead 1
JestersHK Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 For all of you who didn't see any birds... These guys run around our campus here at work, and I believe with a handful of corn I could ring their necks LOL. They literally block the doors sometimes admiring their reflections.
