fozzype Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 I appreciate all the help but I need to clarify...I have zero issues with alberto or modified albright with any braid to flouro combos. This does not hold true for "superlines" nanofill and suffix 832. These are two of the most effective lines I have found for spinning tackle. However, the leaders have issues. Is anybody trying any of these knots specifically with 832 or nanofil? B. Foz
MOPanfisher Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 As I said I use the blood knot on Nanofil to mono leader.
Ham Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Alberto with nanofil to Fluro or co-poly. Minimal issues. Catch a lot of fish. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 What Ham said. I committed to Nano this year and it's freakishly sensitive. Every little peck feels like a lightening bolt. Only issue is wind. I've gone to the Alberto for all leader connections and even used it to back fill a spool. Works great.
Ham Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Wind is an issue with nano. You can keep your rod tip low which helps or even put the line down on top of the water. It is sensitive enough to still transmit bites. ill say it again and again. Nanofil when used correctly is very cost efficient and will revolutionize your fishing with spinning gear. dan hufferd and OldMillRoad 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. MOPanfisher Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Wind is a pain, but I am not planning on going back to regular braid or mono.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 A few weeks ago I was fishing and it was breezy. I would cast and the line would float in the breeze literally for 30 to 40 seconds. It was unfishable. dtrs5kprs 1
dan hufferd Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I never have the knot slip, you need at least 5 wraps on the braid and at least 3 wraps with the leader. Like Panfisher said slobber or use chapstick for lube before cinching it down. I reel my uniknot all the way to the reel. that way I can break off several times. Oh and use fingernail clippers to cut your flouro leader tag as close to the knot as possible, if it catches in the eyes it will be on the leader tag.
rps Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 When I join braid to flouro or mono, I use the Alberto. Check out the tackle tours knot war series to see why.
Mitch f Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Had a few guys on another forum I go to occasionally say they are abandoning the Alberto knot for the leader. They are going to an "FG" knot. Here's the link: "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
