I am at the last stage, and as much as I love fishing, it still comes second to my family. So I don't understand your meme. You must find it funny though. It's a joke. I keep forgetting in this new day and age that everyone is offended. Of course family always comes first, I'm just fortunate that my family is just as passionate about fishing as I am. bluebasser86, vernon, big c and 3 others 6

And yea my family absolutely loves fishing too, but that doesn't mean I can be reckless with spending money towards it. I have decided that a $100 reel should be more than adequate for the type of fishing I do. As many have already pointed out, with today's technology and engineering there are many outstanding reels to be had for that amount of money.
fowlthing Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I have the Stradic FK and the Ci4. The FK is by far the best spinning reel I have owned. and costs 30$ or so less than the Ci4. The Daiwa' s mentioned seem like something I need to consider for the next reel.
Champ188 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Hopefully no one is suggesting that family doesn't come first. Our children are grown and out on their own. Have been for years. Donna and I spend a pretty fair sum taking care of our 7 fur kids (six full-time indoor cats and one feral outdoor cat). We take care of things around the house. Beyond that, we play every chance we get. Fishing and golf, that is. Our priorities are identical, and we are thankful for that. I suppose "horror" was a bad choice of words in my original post, although it was intended as humor. I have no doubt that chi0082 has a wonderful wife and I'd be disappointed if he didn't show her and his family the respect to put them before fishing. Lots of varying priorities and budgets here. I'm somewhere in the middle, although I'm always looking to buy the best I can possibly afford. As much money as I've thrown away in the past few years on piece-of-crap spinning reels (Johnny Morris Signature Series and Lew's), I'll probably be looking at the sealed Daiwa models in the very near future, staying as close to $100 each as I can. Champ, have you tried the Revo lineup? I have not - you know I loathe spinning reels - but the quality Abu puts out in the baitcasters argues the spinning reels might be good. Champ188 1

I have not tried them but will certainly look into them before making a final decision.

Thats what i thought about Lews, Nothing but problems with their Spinning rigs
roy_eros Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I've got 3 Revo spinning reels I've had for less than a year that are all about toast on me. Have two of the S model and one of the SX. Very disappointed as I've had fantastic luck with Revo baitcasters.

They get great reviews everywhere I see them for sale. I'm surprised you think otherwise. What kind of problems are you having?
mixermarkb Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I'd be a little suspect of the Revo spin reels, because the Lews baitcasting reels and the Abu Revo baitcasting reels share some OEM Asian manufacturers, although they have different QC and design specs. I can't help but be a little worried that the Revo spinning reels share the same OEM and maybe some of the same problems the lews spinning reels have, although I stress that this is just a theory. I'd stay with the diawa and pflugers that seem to get pretty consistent good reviews here and elsewhere, but that's just my opinion- dtrs5kprs 1
