Off to Indian Point with map in hand and a new navionics chip to look for some pea gravel with dips and humps, work on my presentation, and hopefully catch a boatful.  Which I will release, of course.

Thanks all, will post what happens with either a heavy heart or clicking of my heels.

THat is it in general but the way you do those things means a lot. when I say presentation it is everything you do form the minute that lure leaves your rod till you get it back that includes how it sinks how you work it during the retrieve. The presintation is a lot of things you will gain from experience.

Heck nothing works every time, last week I made a quick run over to the lake with a Ned rig and a pocket full of ned parts, figuring I could spend a couple hours fishing around some docks from the bank catching little bass.  I guess no one warned the bass I was coming and that they should be simply swimming up to me to surrender.  After an hour and a couple of bluegill shakes I gave up, fully realizing I may not know anything about the Ned, except maybe I simply didn't have the touch or may the cold front changed them etc.  I will still try it again and again as I have confidence in the rig from creek/river fishing I know they will eat it, just haven't figured out the nuances yet.  Maybe I need lessons.

Maybe we both need lessons. Dave!

Well, back from the lake.  The good news is that I caught 3!

The reality is that 2 were LM and maybe 1/2 lb each and the other was 2" perch.  LOL.  Hooked in the mouth!

Fish were at 20 feet, shad were schooled and boiling all around me.  4 schools.  Occasional visit from the smallies but nothing topwater.

The other good news is that gravel is a great place.  I got to watch a smallie chase a shad for 15-20 jumps before he got him.  I literally had just stopped and had no rods available.  LOL.

Still a beautiful day on the lake, saw a deer on the way home, got to see the shad boiling 5' from the boat (no, I couldn't make out color/size, just lots of boiling and flashing), caught more than last time, met a nice guy at the ramp, and learned something about bottom composition (gravel vs chunk vs mud).  Also learned there was no love for green pumpkin senko pro's on drop shot.  hehe.

Thanks all, more to follow after the next trip.  I'm thinking carolina rig and crank and a new area.

Any thoughts/questions are welcome.  I worked like hell to catch fish and there was just no love today.  Guy at the ramp said it was a tough day . . . he only caught 14!  Grrrrr.  LMAO!

Thanks again for your help.

I have never really fished TR but follow the shade morning and evening works pretty good around here.

I used to fish in big cedar cove and do pretty well.   There is a lot of gravel on the whole south side of the cove.

My condo overlooks the island in clevenger.   There has been a fisherman in that saddle on the south side since Monday.   This morning nobody was there and fish were busting shad like crazy.

Almost got caught in a storm today.  Threw the C-rig for an hour with no love.  Didn't find the fish on the graph before I started fishing but was short on time cause of the weather.

Frustrated.

Sorry no info here but...

This is why I love this site and 90% of the people one here. I grew up trout fishing. Got that down pat. But I never really lake fished until about 3 or 4 years ago and I love it. Targeting each different type of fish , different tactics at different types of the year and so many more tactics than trout. But, I sucked at first other than crappie, but I'm slowly broadening my skill set thanks to many many people here.  Keep up the greatness and God Bless!!
