chi0082 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I want to try colored line (green, yellow, flourscent blue, etc) so I can better see my line for those subtle strikes when pitching/flipping jigs or using the ned rig. I've always used clear line in all applications and if I use braid, I nearly always tie a flouro leader to it when fishing jigs, worms, tubes, etc. I only tie braid directly to frogs, A-rigs, and other few topwaters. Do bass shy away from bright line colors? I've searched a ton on this topic and cannot get a definite answer.
dtrs5kprs Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Clear or green is the only way to fly on TR unless you are night fishing. You don't want to line watch if you are dragging the little rig around. Throw it at some gravel, watch a bird on the bank, then just touch your slack and see if it is heavy with a fish. Map Guy, mixermarkb, Muddy Water and 1 other 4
Champ188 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 This is not LOZ. Line visibility definitely matters in clear water when fishing slow-moving baits. mixermarkb, Ranger Z22, Nitro 750 and 1 other 4

Quillback Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I use green for mono and clear for fluoro, mainly as I can tell what I have spooled on a reel. Muddy Water, Champ188 and dtrs5kprs 3

I don't think there is a definite answer. so I'd say sometimes yes sometimes no. there's no way to ask a bass so...if using colored line helps you see bites then use it I like the high vis yellow braid without a leader when fishing deep finesse baits.

So tell you what Champ. IF and when I ever get this body back into functioning order. Maybe I can come down there and we can go out for a couple hours just you and me and I will use braid and you will use whatever. It would be interesting to see how they compare. We use the same lure and in the same way. OK. Would be interesting to se what would happen. Right now I got a to get myself together. My schedule is for 7 more rad treatments, pre OP for knee and a MRI for shoulder on the 15 of June, then a replacement of the failed replacement on the 19 th. Now about a week after that I will learn if I am in the 80% or 20% group.. If that is all there is then I might get down there in September. For a little testing. merc1997 Bo and Champ188 2
