I love the photos especially the ladyfish. I always think about Don Knotts in the "Incredible Mr. Limpet" when I see a ladyfish. I haven't had any problems with my Olympus, but would like to hear how they handle your warranty.

Thanks. I have a buddy that went through 2 Pentax cameras before getting an Olympus. And even though I'm a big Nikon supporter I don't like their point and shoots. There have been a lot of problems with them as well.

Not that this Olympus in particular is any better right now. We'll see how it turns out.

Yeah, I'm with you on the Nikon P&S, though I don't have personal experience with them I have heard enough stories that I've avoided them. Maybe Al will weigh in? My ancient Olympus waterproof P&S needs to be replaced at some point, so I'm glad you're sharing your experiences.

Other cameras are Nikon. My D200 is getting a little long in the tooth and I need to send it in for some cleanup and repair. The dials are very sticky, and the auto focus button doesn't engage anymore. Just got my flash back from them for repairs and that wasn't cheap, but cheaper than an equivalent new or even a decent used one, so I'm not grumbling too much. I'm not using it enough to justify an upgrade, but the new ones with ultra high ISO and video capabilities are sure sweet sounding. If I had younger kids I'd be all over one of those.

I feel the same way about my D90. It is way past it's prime but I have no desire to shell a bunch of money for a camera to sit in a bag. Besides, the D90, and I'm sure that D200, still produces great pictures. It's not all about the equipment. A lot more goes into a great photo then just spending a bunch of money.

I'm on my second Nikon AW100.  You're right that Nikons have gotten bad reviews, but it seems the AW100 was a good one.  Of course, it was discontinued and replaced by one that the reviews say isn't nearly as reliable.  My first AW100 was still going strong on my Grand Canyon trip last fall, until the last day when I sat on it, with LCD screen right against a pointy rock, and broke the screen.  I wanted to replace it with the same camera, and that's when I found out the 100 had been replaced.  But I was able to find a new in box one on Amazon.

Only con I have with it is that the lens is not protected at all.  It looks like it would be easily scratched, but I haven't had that problem yet.

Update on the warranty.

I carried that camera around in the box for awhile before I shipped it back to Olympus. Dropped it off at the post office on the 1st of July. Yesterday it was repaired and sitting on my porch when I got home. They replaced the LCD and sent it right back no questions asked.

Pretty good service to me.
