Members D Mann Posted June 1, 2016 Members Posted June 1, 2016 My fishing partner and I are thinking about doing alot of night fishing this summer. I would like to hear some of your opinions if a black light is helpful or not. I will not be using flourescent line. Thanks.
SplitG2 Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I use it with Florescenf line and like it a lot. What's your reason for not using florescent line?
Members D Mann Posted June 2, 2016 Author Members Posted June 2, 2016 I like the feel of fluorocarbon. Really like that stuff
SplitG2 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Try the clear florescent floro coated p-line. It's not like straight Floro but happy medium for night fishing with the black light. eyedabassman and dtrs5kprs 2
96 CHAMP Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I would definitely use a black light, a lot of times you will just see your line twitch or move in a inconsistent manner & not feel a thing, one thing I have always noticed is the better fish are the ones that usually pick your bait up without you even knowing it, watch your line very closely and look for that small twitch or movement, reel up the slack and smoke him. Good luck!! Champ188 and dtrs5kprs 2
Old plug Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Rarely see anyone using one on LOZ. I beolieve it is better to retrieve your line through your thumb and fore finger. For the most part. Hammer time and Nimrod Nick 2
dtrs5kprs Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Aside from the line watching, there is a big advantage in seeing it when trying to tie a knot, work out a backlash, etc.
merc1997 Bo Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 a black light made night fishing a much easier project from a number of aspects. it is from seeing your line and being able to track your cast, to being able to retrieve your cast properly, to see those non-existent bites that you would ever even know about without one. if you are shopping for a really good black light, i would suggest a lunar-extreme. it is led, and costs about the same as a two bulb fluorescent, but puts out way more light and will actually illuminate the bank, but does not seem to bother the bass any. just some thoughts from someone that fished for years at night without one before we has any type of black light. even the old moon glows were an improvement of fishing without any light. of course way back then, the lake on moonless night was truly as dark as a dungeon. bo Flysmallie, Longball22 and dtrs5kprs 3
Members D Mann Posted June 2, 2016 Author Members Posted June 2, 2016 Thanks guys for the good info I'll be getting a light in the near future
SplitG2 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Good call. Be safe, share reports and keep looking over you shoulder in high traffic areas...blind corners with boats entering and exiting coves. Bo knows nights, so keep tabs on his reports. And don't pass up fishing dark big profile baits around lighted docks.
