Al,

Happy to hear your Mary is recovering nicely. Prayers for her and you.

Still thinking about you Al and Mary,

Been gone a couple of days and off the grid. Catching up a bit and reading things. While I do think some meds are outrageous I will not debate it here on Al's post about his bride. Wrench I will visit this with you PM or I have your number and will text you until you get sick of me but I leave you with this. What would be the price that you would put on a life? :)

So if you're starving to death the cost of a Subway sandwich should automatically go up 600% ?  I don't think so.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't pay it (if I had it) but I maintain that it's wrong to do that.

BILLITHEAD...... I will say this. With no reflection on anyone else.

I really believe it should be left up to the individual patient to decide when enough is enough. I will get my last shot of radiation this morning of a series of 37. They were $2500 a shot. My insurance got most it. So that is no financial problem. But for me this is where it ends. I have made it very clear to all concerned I will not go to chemical therapy if needed. I am 76 yrs old and the quality of life is not what it used to be. No fear at all. I would rather leave this memory of me now as I am.  Al Agnew's wife is a much younger woman with a lot of living to do. I support their search for a solution. But I understand Wrench's feelings. If I recall his father went thru hell with cancer and to no avail.

I am extremely pleased that everything is going great with Mary. That is awesome. I cringe every time I hear of someone with cancer. I've lost both my dad and my older sister to cancer within the last 5 years and I just don't have good thoughts about some of the treatment options.

I took my dad several times to get his $7,500 shot that he needed once a week. He had insurance so it was covered but it was still a shock to see that it was that much. About the same time that he was going through all that I met a guy about my age in North Carolina whose dad had retired from a large pharmaceutical company. After his dad retired this guy was given the job of taking care of his dad's Porsche collection. I've seen some of the collection a few times. The portion I have seen is probably 40 to 50 cars, several with price tags exceeding $1 million dollars. It's quite impressive. But standing there and looking at those cars knowing that people are struggling to afford these medications leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm all for working hard and making a lot of money but not at the expense of someone's life. Sometimes enough is enough.
