JestersHK Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Hit the water around 1:00am, nice and quiet, 3rd cast and got lit up by a nice brown. Fmcbrandon caught a nice smallmouth and a nice colored up little bow. Wish we had some more moon light, and the fog is thick as soup. I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week too! trythisonemv, Johnsfolly, Seth and 2 others 5
JestersHK Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Fishing was a bit slower than what I was hoping last night, the ones we did catch we're all healthy solid fish though. We switched over to fly rods at dawn, fished the early morning midge hatch with little success on top water despite the trout surfacing everywhere. Must be easier for them to eat the live ones. Not a whole lot of pics, pictures at night are a pain LOL, but here's one more of a chunky little rainbow.
JestersHK Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 We're back at it again tonight after the rain. Still running just a bit of water, but keeps a nice flow for how we're fishing. Still a bit slow, but making up for it again with nice size fish, nabbed a nice 18in male bow and a 17in brown so far. Johnsfolly 1
trythisonemv Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Nice work guys. Hopefully you did well this morning.
Quillback Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Very nice - I always like the coloration on browns, they all seem to be unique.
JestersHK Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 I finally turned in at 5 this morning to get some sleep lol. Caught more numbers last night into this morning and caught a small walleye too. Today it was off to the pool with the kiddos. Brandon stayed and fished and did pretty good today, he can fill us in. I'm suiting up now for night 3! Brandon's got us off to a great start!
Russell Doughty Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Were they running 35 mw like they said they were going to? What lures or flies if you care to share?
JestersHK Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Yeah staying pretty true to what the core site says. It's wadeable, just have to be careful. We were using stick baits and jigs. Shallow divers and cranking them real slow through the current. The more reflective or shiny the better. Phil Lilley and trythisonemv 2
JestersHK Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Heading down for the last night. Had to make it an early trip in last night around 1:30. Managed to catch a decent brown though, and caught pretty consistently, but there were a bunch of smaller stockers mixed in there. Hoping to find some bigger ones tonight. trythisonemv 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 8, 2016 Root Admin Posted August 8, 2016 Drove to the dam and met DJ about 11:15 pm last night. Running 35 mw of water. Foggy. Started at the cable - all I wanted to do is throw jigs. Not knowing the speed of current was the hardest thing - then it was hard telling what depth. Didn't have waders, just high boots but it didn't matter. Caught one rainbow in the tail, then a spotted bass at the big tree above outlet #1. Worked on down and only got bat bites, I think. No hookups. DJ did better - I'll let him report. But it was slow fishing overall. Need to get up there when it's daylight to see what I'm doing. tho1mas 1
