Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 14, 2016 Root Admin Posted August 14, 2016 Thanks for the memories, everyone; it’s been a great ride http://www.kansascity.com/sports/outdoors/article95446392.html bs1827 1
Flatbottom Boy Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I look forward to his book. As I transition, against my will, out of Missouri I can really relate to his story about how he got started. Im going to really miss this place. Good thing Im only going one state over to Kansas so I can still get my Ozark fix now and again. Thanks for sharing Phil.
ness Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I love his stuff, but I just don't get around to reading it anymore. Haven't taken the Star for years, and the online subscription is stupid expensive last I checked. The app doesn't even have a link to outdoors. I liked it better in the good old days. John
Champ188 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I feel his pain. Literally. Arkansas' statewide newspaper didn't offer buyouts ... even for 35-year employees. Just layoffs. Yeah, I'm a little bitter. Ham and dtrs5kprs 2
KCRIVERRAT Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Gonna miss Brent. His articles were simple. He spoke to everyone who loved the outdoors. I couldn't wait for both his spring fishing and fall hunting outlooks in the sunday Star. dtrs5kprs 1 HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
SplitG2 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Thanks for sharing Phil. Ran into him and Ned together at the boat show last winter. I leaned in to say a quick hello and thank you with the intent to slip away without bothering them. He wouldn't have it and went out of his way to include me in the conversation. Really nice guy. dtrs5kprs Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Good for him. Hope he enjoys retirement to the fullest. Ham 1
Al Agnew Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Yep, good guy and good writer. I took him on a Big River float a long time ago, and was able to produce a 19 inch smallmouth. Had a lot of fun fishing with him.
Champ188 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Covered several Bassmasters Classics with him in the 80s. Good guy, indeed. I wish him nothing but joy. ness and Ham 2
ness Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 This click-click-click world we're in is making thoughtful writing and reading obsolete, not to mention THINKING. I submit our choices for president as Exhibit A in support of that theory. We're all getting to be dumb as bricks. Show me anyone under the age of 30 that can find an address without a phone and I'll retract that. ColdWaterFshr, Daryk Campbell Sr and Champ188 3 John
