BilletHead Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Well fishing was not too good this morning. One lousy slimy large mouth bass on the French Fry. My bad he wasn't so lousy as he made me not be skunked . The Cottonmouth finding went well though. Spotted three different ones this morning. First one on the rocky bank and could not get very close, Next three shots a bit better. He decided he needed to swim over and rest on the jet foot of the motor. I hit the tilt and he wanted nothing to do with lifting him out of the water and slid off. Last one was heading for shore mot even slowing down for a Nikon moment. MOPanfisher Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I admit to kind of liking snakes, for some reason I really like that sharp edge on their heads, reminds me somehow of a Marine DI, attitude and all. Johnsfolly and BilletHead 2

jdmidwest Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 We motored up a creek in a cove off of Pickwick Lake Saturday and decided to walk up and do a little stream fishing. We were having a ball catching yellow perch on rooster tails. The water got so skinny we were fishing each others tracks, so I let my buddy have the lead and explore the creek upstream. I was knee deep in the middle of the creek under a leaning ash tree when I saw a cottonmouth cross from one side to the other, Then it crossed back and started swimming back to me. I back peddled and kept an eye on it, knowing I could not leave and not warn my buddy who had to cross back thru his territory. It swam back and forth across a few more times and made its way up the opposite bank into the brush. It was the lightest phase cottonmouth I ever saw, Its barring really showed up. But it floated high on the water, had a diamond head. I did not get close enough to check it eyes. BilletHead Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 I give them the right of way wrench. Just circle around them a couple of times. I go my way and they go theirs. I like it when they pose for a picture or two. Remind me someday when we visit one on one and I will tell you the story many moons ago when I did mess with one .
