did hear about a Gambler boat that lost his outboard in about 75ft of water....

I'm waiting for the punch line?

He was staying in my condo complex. Looked like jack plate broke.  He didn't know what hit. Didn't seem to hurt the transom. It happens about the 11 mm. They were lucky the motor didn't come in the boat with them.

Well I took in...

2 blown powerheads (both Mercs).

1 blown jet pump.

1 rectifier/regulator fire that roasted the whole top end.

,.......................................................

The ones I saved (pit crew style) so they could still finish the derby consisted of:

3 power pack/switchbox failures.

1 stator failure.

1 voltage regulator failure.

1 broken control cable.

2 livewell/recirc pumps.

1 overheat (shadetree water pump job gone wrong).

2 non working running lights.

1 trailer wheel bearing failure.

So I guess I "won" about 8.5k :)

The Gambler motor deal definitely happened.

Yes it did.   If he had cables instead of hydraulic steering he'd still own a motor.

I wish him luck on an insurance claim, but I'd say he's probably screwed.
