Hate to say this but this morning there were more than 15 largemouth 2-5 lbs. floating about 100yds. out from the Ahoy's launch ramp at the Kimberling Inn. I was told there was a pretty good size tourney out of there/here yesterday.

Didn't have my phone at the time to take pics but will look again in the morning. They were white to the point that they had obviously been dead overnight.

Bad deal.

Joe Bass was out of Ahoy's and I know they have a release boat they load the fish in and release somewhere out across the lake. I don't recall any other tournaments that were out of that area though.

The release boat was still in the parking lot when we arrived later Saturday afternoon as was the associations trailer and four or five guys that appeared to be affiliated with the tournament. Didn't really pay that much attention though. Just another of the many that run out of that ramp.

Didnt notice anything that evening but the next morning the guy in the slip next to me had just came in and told me about it. When I headed out a little later, sure enough, there were floaters all over the place.

Most were about a hundred yards or so out from the shore off the end of the south dock. Some pretty solid fish too.

It does. Taking a hole saw to my Ranger does not. :o

I feel the same way plus giving $44 plus each is a little high for a 3 inch plastic vent in the live well lid. I'd rather put the funds towards oxygenators. I rarely use live wells anymore due to not fishing tournaments but once in awhile now days.

I fished in the joe bass and I know the participants and the guys who run the tournament are big on fish care. All the fish weighed in went straight to the release boat. There were several good bags caught and one that went almost 19 lbs. I would hate to think those floaters are from us but it is unfortunate either way.

Really not meaning to throw any rocks here Alex. Just an observation. I just think with 80+ degree water temperature and the fact that a lot of the better fish are caught pretty deep this time of year it's just inevitable.

The fact that they were where they were and the wind direction would seem to me to indicate that if they were released somewhere on the main lake outside of Fisher Creek, that'd be where they would drift to.

Was just sad to see. It ain't like its gonna effect the future of bass fishing on Table Rock or anything but maybe the more these incidents are pointed out the more tournaments will try to figure out a better way. I'm sure all of the guys did their best and felt confident that the released fish were good to go.

No way they could know without someone pointing it out after the fact though.

Guys the problem is this was not an isolated incident it is happening at other locations. My son fished a club tournament out of Baxter and there was another club tournament at the same ramp and they released their fish at the ramp and there was several dead fish in the group. So over the whole lake last weekend how many fish died. My son's club had 1 fish come in dead from a gut hook, all other fish released alive and swam away. Fish care in these hot months is a must, use ice to cool the live well water, use a treatment in the live well, run a re-circulation pump, fizz the deep caught fish, hopefully all fish will survive but in spite of what is done there are going to be some that will die. But with care those numbers will be small..

in the club I'm ln we measure and release and write it on a score card. the weigh in is the score cards. there are numerous small derbys every weekend and that type of system would elemenated a great deal of the floaters. floaters are a blight on our sport and should be looked at with disgust and contempt.   if a tournament is producing floaters then they are a contributor to the problem

Congratulations, Sir, on your leadership and sportsmanship.
