Makes me wonder how long it would take to drain a lake like T.R. if the dam did ever give way. If the T.R dam failed, it would make the downstream floods of 2011 look like a rippling stream.

I do not think it would take a very big break at all in the earthen wings of the da,n to make a disaster. As i recall they felt the break would expand far to rapidly. It was a interesting study I am going to look for it.

The Humboldt fault goes north through KS and NE, so the "shockwaves" propagated along the fault northward, rather than eastward. Now, if the New Madrid fault ever cracks, the entire Table Rock region should be feeling that. As one who has spent in the New Madrd fault area. I can gaurantee you it shakes pretty regular.

fishinwrench Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Some people 8 miles North of here said their dishes rattled, walls and doors creaked, and their pets freaked out. My dog, who looses his mind if a possum passes quietly through the yard, noticed nothing. tapout 1

St. Louis felt nothing but accross the river they did. I didn't notice it but my niece three blocks away did. Lotsa variables -- mattress firmness, proximity to china cabinet, etc. John
