DADAKOTA Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Sorry to hear of your misfortune and congrats on the win. I have forgotten to pull the TM myself on more than one occasion but suffered no damage. Not sure what your was mounted with, but I have gone to stainless bolts, lock nuts and large washers. The large fender type washers make it extremely unlikely that the mounting bracket can ripped off the deck.

No, usually it just bends the shaft, but I have seen a bunch of noses ripped off boats. Fish & Ski type boats especially since the transoms on those are built heavy but the noses are built rather light.

A friend of my dad's tore one off his Champion trying to put it on the trailer with the trolling motor down. It was hilarious. But in his defense we were all trying to load in a horrible thunderstorm on Truman. I had already parked my dad's Champion on the courtesy dock. Luckily the next huge wave pushed me right off.

I reckon that could happen with glass, but not too likely with my aluminum deck and a 25 HP.
jdmidwest Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Put safety chains on the next one.... I have seen it happen on a river a few times. Almost happened Sunday when my buddy powered up the jet to run a shoal and left troller down. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
