HI Ladies and Gentlemen

Humminbird or Lowrance?  What is your preference?  I know its a highly debated topic but its time for new electronics on the Ranger.  What do you use?

Thanks Toby

I am partial to Lowrance because I understand their terminology.  I can't do anything with a Bird when with a friend who owns one.  I like the HDS series with structure scan and chirp.

I've always favored Lowrance stuff but their transducers are a bit fragile, and I don't know why they don't build them a bit more robust.

Color me Lowrance. Again, I'm just used to them, and they work for me. I've only had one die on me at the lake, and it still kind of worked then. And it was 10 years old.

If you have no preferred brand, don't forget to look at Garmin. I've got a Bird and a Lowrance onboard but sure have seen some great screens from friends Garmin. JMO.

I like my new Helix 9.  I'm partial to Humminbird because of interconnection to MinnKota Powerdrive.  I did reconsider the Lowrance because of the Chirp in some of their lower priced?? units.  If you are considering Chirp, I would recommend really reading up on this as true Chirp is really high dollar.  The transducers are larger and expensive as well.  I do like the 3D views from the higher end units.

Go to bass pro and play with the units....i just bought a new helix 7 di for console.. i was looking at a garmin but once i saw the difference in the screens i went with hummingbird...these units where with in my price range..Lowrance and hummingbird are both good units.......My next purchase will be either another hummingbird Helix 7 with all bells and whistles or maybe even a helix 9 for console..

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

, Lowrance. I put an Elite 7 HDI chirp at the helm and an Elite 5 HDI chirp on the bow last summer.  They have sonar and down scan. I  love them both and they didn't break the bank. There are lots of nice features on these units. The GPS mapping is nice and I'm running a navonics  chip. Having the same unit front and rear makes programming them easier. I'm down at the rock this week and have played with them a lot. I'm up the James and drop shotting has produced the most fish. 25 to 35 on chunk rock and gravel flats.
