Way to go on paying it forward. I never would've thought that seat could float as probaly so did the owner.

Different thought. Ranger could begin marketing that in addition to the positive floatation ads.

What I would like to know is how did it get blown out without the owner noticing?

Probably the darn sticky sockets. It's pretty easy to push one in without the little tab deal actually locking, and think it has because the sockets grab the pedestal so tightly. It's an annoying design. I always seat mine in the socket, then sit on it until I can feel a positive "click", then test it by pulling up on the pedestal.

I see.  With my Phoenix, you can't get the pedestal seats out once they are in.  I have to get on all fours, push my back up on the seat and put pressure on it, while at the same time wiggling the pedestal and trying to push in that small, hard to push in tab.  After doing it a dozen times I have gotten the process down, but the first few time it was a battle.

I'm thinking whoever lost that seat probably was done for the day, didn't notice it fall out as they headed back to the ramp, loaded the boat, drove home, put it in the garage and all without noticing the seat was gone.

There's no post on the seat...the base is there but no post..im thinking seat came off of post because the height adjustment lever is still there..

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

That's the dirty little tab. The sockets on the Rangers are so tight it can be tough to get a post in or out, before dealing with the tab. Too easy to put one in and assume it locked.

Lot of stuff on places like BBC about the sockets. Worst thing you can do is lube one.

If I had to guess I'd say that someone pulled the pedestal out and laid it on the back deck, then forgot and took off to their next spot.

Personally I don't see how anyone can sit and fish, other than maybe throwing deep cranks or vertical jigging.  The seats and pedestals are the first thing to go whenever I get a new boat.  Can't stand driving a boat with a seat and pole up front either.
