I know this has been a topic here before, but just the other day a 72 year old man was ejected from his boat and drowned on Table Rock

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

2nd death this year of being ejected with no PFD   :(.     All 3 deaths on TR this year were with no PFD worn  (third being the youth who drowned while swimming).

has anyone noticed that the officer in the pic of story is operating the boat, but does not have his pfd on?????  not too good of an illustration to wear your pfd anytime the big motor is running.  wake up water patrol.  you are being watched.

I believe if you enlarge the photo the officer does have one one, looks like its a black or black/blue one.  hard to tell for sure though.  I have to wonder if the boaters death was all drowning and not a stroke/hear attack also.  The only reason I think that is that just last Friday we had a gentleman have a heart attack while winching his boat onto the trailer at one of the ramps, his buddy said he straightened up and fell back into the water, (only a couple inches).  If it had been in the lake it likely would have gone down as a drowning.

I believe he does have one on. Looks like the auto inflate style that are small and flat to the body. I think it's black and just blends in with the dark uniform he is wearing.

Well, I learned my lesson the hard way....................as usual!    I generally always wear a life jacket, but now you can remove "generally" from that statement!!  And I have a ladder ordered for my Ranger that will be installed before the water temp drops.

Champ, I got mine in the spring and it took a while to get used to it but now I don't have any problem with it.

The Cabela's 3500 is what I have and was wearing when I fell in and believe me they work.....head up and out of the water.  I'm sure I looked like a big yellow cork bobbing in the water, but I'll deal with the ridicule from friends and family  :D   versus the alternative!!
