It was the catching that sucked!

Made a last minute text last night to see if I could get that Indian bear on the river.

He didn't take long to respond and then immediately followed up with another. I left him hanging for about an hour.

We hit the river and tried really hard for awhile. Saw a lot of good fish. Lots of big largemouth especially. Very few takers. Here's a photo dump.

As a matter of fact wrench, we are! And I couldn't be more excited! He proposed as I stood under that cloud on the gravel bar! It couldn't have been any more romantic!

I was just giddy and ecstatic the rest of the day! I didn't even care about fishing from that point on. My heart  soared with those clouds!

I know that part of the river well, I met my wife there on the 4th of July 29 yrs ago. It is not the place it used to be, but the river just keeps flowing.

There was a time when the fishing was great, the white bass used to run well above horse creek, and there were many mink running the banks, I can't tell you how many cat fish we used to catch.

Be careful down there now it is a lawless area. The drug culture has pretty much take that part of the world over.

Love the pictures, there are many interesting caves in the area too.

I can just imagine those two singing on that gravel bar in a MR. Rogers voice. "It's a beautiful day in the neighbor hood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?"

Thanks Chef now I can't get that out of my head :) .

The fishing is still good in that stretch and the catfish have always been plentiful. That section is teeming with life.

I think its a bit less lawless than it used to be. I've been at it for 20+ years and I can remember a time when there were less people but more of them were a problem. Since JRO started doing a kickass job it seems to be a lot less crazy. But since they do such a great job it's a busy place. Better crowd, just more of them.

I was telling Chief that there was a time that you couldn't fish that stretch without seeing some helicopters hovering or DEA agents running the river in a jet.
